  • Publication number: 20020126025
Abstract: A pointing device for use with a keyboard functions like a computer mouse. It incorporates a plurality of configurable function keys. The pointing device is composed of a rolling surface capable of rotation and translation that may activate a switch when it is depressed. An optical sensor monitors the rotation and translation of the rolling surface and translates that motion into communications interpretable by a mouse software driver. An edge sensor allows repositioning of the rolling surface without cursor movement when limits of travel are reached. The pointing device communicates with the computer through a serial communication facility such as a PS/2 or USB connection. The enclosure containing the rolling surface incorporates an aperture allowing a portion of the rolling surface to be available for manipulation, an elevated support surface for the keyboard and provision for palm rests.

  • Patent number: 6199627
Abstract: A heat sink includes a number of primary fin plates and a number of secondary spacing plates alternately arranged and fixed together by fasteners extending therethrough. Bottom edges of the plates are flush with each other to form a surface positionable on a heat generating component. Top edges of the primary plates are located above top edges of the secondary plates. Upper portions of the primary plates are formed between the top edges thereof and the top edges of the secondary plates. A number of openings are defined in the upper portion of each primary plate to increase the surface area thereof. The openings may be grooves or slots. Positioning bosses are formed on a first face of each plate for reception in recesses defined in a second face of an adjacent plate thereby properly positioning the plates with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 6166913
Abstract: A casing for enclosing a circuit board comprises pair of symmetrical halves assembled together. Each said half forms plurality of retaining means on a first longitudinal side thereof and plurality of receiving means at a second longitudinal side opposite said first longitudinal side whereby said halves are fixedly assembled together by the interlocking engagement between said retaining means and said receiving means.

  • Patent number: 6134516
Abstract: The SEmulation system provides four modes of operation: (1) Software Simulation, (2) Simulation via Hardware Acceleration, (3) In-Circuit Emulation (ICE), and (4) Post-Simulation Analysis. At a high level, the present invention may be embodied in each of the above four modes or various combinations of these modes. At the core of these modes is a software kernel which controls the overall operation of this system. The main control loop of the kernel executes the following steps: initialize system, evaluate active test-bench processes/components, evaluate clock components, detect clock edge, update registers and memories, propagate combinational components, advance simulation time, and continue the loop as long as active test-bench processes are present.

  • Patent number: 5961338
Abstract: An electrical connector (10) for receiving an IC card (100) therein, includes a base (12) joined with a cover (42). A plurality of contacts (16) are disposed in the base (12) wherein the engagement portion (20) of each contact (16) protrudes out of an upper surface (22) of the base (12) for engagement with the contact pads on the IC card (100). The cover (42) includes a pair of holding slots (52) on two sides for carrying the inserted IC card (100) to rotatably move with the cover (42) when the cover (42) is pivoted from a slanted position to a horizontal position. The cover (42) further includes a pushing bar (54) which is adapted to carry the inserted IC card (100) to horizontally move with the cover (42) when the cover (42)is horizontally moved from the rear position to the front position.

  • Patent number: 5894302
Abstract: An ergonomic housing for a computer mouse helpful in minimizing the occurrence and alleviating the symptoms of repetitive strain injuries is disclosed. The mouse housing includes a palm support area having a hump which is an asymmetrically skewed bulge about with a user's hand may pivot. The palm support area also includes a tapered tail for supporting the hand and wrist off the surface. The housing includes at least one button which is elevated and angled to minimize flexion of and accompanying stress on the tendons of the finger. A thumb support is also provided to allow the thumb to rest off the surface and to aid in lifting the mouse.
