  • Patent number: 7278567
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that process service requests associated with one or more work machines. In one embodiment, a process is disclosed that includes receiving status information associated with operations of the first work machine and analyzing a first work machine flow sequence associated with the first work machine based on the status information. Based on the analysis, a service request is generated. To fulfill the service request, the process may include modifying a second work machine flow sequence associated with a second work machine.

  • Publication number: 20070202603
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for sampling a metal working fluid and dispensing a corrective fluid to adjust the fluid in a tank or reservoir from which the sample was drawn. The apparatus, which in certain embodiments is transportable, includes an inlet configured to receive a fluid sample from a reservoir, a measuring station configured to determine at least one parameter of the fluid sample, a dispensing station configured to select a type and amount of fluid(s) to be added to the metal working fluid to restore its desired parameters, and an outlet configured to dispense the corrective fluid. The inventive apparatus provides an advantageous computerized comparison of the contaminates and concentrations of key constituents in a sample fluid against desired operating parameters and dispenses a corrective fluid, which, when added to the reservoir from which the sample fluid was drawn, corrects the adverse conditions of that fluid.

  • Patent number: 7166034
Abstract: A golf ball dispensing and teeing device comprising a ball receptacle for retaining a suitably large quantity of golf balls and delivering them to a ball release mechanism. The ball release comprises an actuator for release of balls from the ball receptacle onto a pivoting ball delivery mechanism, and a pivoting trigger member that controls the release such that balls are released individually. The trigger member is biased to provide a push to the ball and the ball delivery mechanism. The ball delivery mechanism is an elongated track or ramp, and the weight of the golf ball on the track and the push from the trigger member causes the track to pivot downward, such that the ball rolls down the track. A ball teeing structure is provided at the end of the track, and comprises a spout member of generally tubular configuration that stops the lateral movement of the ball and controls its position in the vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 7168070
Abstract: A method and system for reducing or avoiding store misses with a data cache block zero (DCBZ) instruction in cooperation with the underlying hardware load stream prefetching support for helping to increase effective aggregate bandwith. The method identifies and classifies unique streams in a loop based on dependency and reuse analysis, and performs loop transformations, such as node splitting, loop distribution or stream unrolling to get the proper number of streams. Static prediction and run-time profile information are used to guide loop and stream selection. Compile-time loop cost analysis and run-time check code and versioning are used to determine the number of cache lines ahead of each reference for data cache line zeroing and to tolerate required data alignment relative to data cache lines.

  • Patent number: 7113839
Abstract: A system and method for providing indexed work machine utilization data. The system implementing the method includes an operator identification device for identifying an operator of a work machine based on operator identification data and a work data collection device for collecting work data related to the work machine. A first processing device indexes the collected work data to the operator identification data and a communication device transmits the indexed work data and operator identification data to a second processing device. The second processing device receives the indexed work data and the operator identification data and provides operator utilization metrics based on the indexed work data that reflect a quantitative performance value associated with at least one of the work machine and operator.

  • Patent number: 6976164
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, system, and computer program product which enables changing user credentials that are used to access legacy host applications and/or systems which provide legacy host data during a secure host access session which is authenticated using a digital certificate and is protected by a host-based security system, such as RACF (Resource Access Control Facility, a product offered by the IBM Corporation), where these changed credentials are used to authenticate a user after previously-provided credentials have been used for authentication earlier in the same session. The changed credentials may belong to the same user, where that user happens to have a different user ID and/or password for different legacy host applications and wishes to change from accessing one legacy host application to accessing another. Or, the changed credentials may be used to enable a different user to interact with the same legacy host application used by the previously-authenticated user.

  • Patent number: 6971000
Abstract: In a processor, when a conditional branch instruction is encountered, a software prediction for the conditional branch is made as a function of the specific condition register field used to store the branch condition for the conditional branch instruction. If a specified condition register field is not used, the software prediction may be made dependent upon the specific address at which the branch instruction is located.

  • Patent number: 6934848
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, system, and computer program product for enabling a user to provide a single system sign-on for accessing one or more legacy host applications and/or one or more systems which provide legacy host data (such as legacy database systems) during a secure host access session which is authenticated using a digital certificate and is protected by a host-based security system, such as RACF (Resource Access Control Facility, a product offered by the IBM Corporation), where the same set of credentials must be provided more than once during the secure session. The subsequent provision of the credentials may be transparent to the user, and does not require change to existing legacy applications or systems.

  • Patent number: 6900845
Abstract: A video decoder transcodes video data from various input formats to a predetermined output format. Input data may be standard definition data or MPEG2 compressed data. Standard definition data are rearranged into block format to be compatible with the decoder's single display processor. The display processor selectively processes and conveys either MPEG2 format data or non-MPEG2 format data to a display device. A block based frame memory stores MPEG2 and non-MPEG2 pixel block data, as well as standard definition data in raster line format during processing.

  • Patent number: 6752315
Abstract: An improved detector assembly restricting light striking a detector within the assembly to a relatively narrow bandwidth and techniques for fabricating the same. A pliable material is impregnated with a coloring agent selected so that the material provides a filtering effect admitting light within a range including a predetermined wavelength, with the wavelength having a value based on a wavelength of a laser to be employed with the detector assembly. The pliable material is shaped so as form a capsule enclosing a detector, with the capsule including a hemispherical lens element as an integral part of the capsule. The hemispherical lens element is coated with a filter coating selected to provide a filtering effect complementary to that provided by the coloring agent, such that the combined filtering effects provided by the filter coating and the coloring agent provide a bandpass filtering effect.

  • Publication number: 20040111410
Abstract: Approximate answers to queries are provided by executing queries against a representation of a data source in addition to, or in lieu of accessing the source data itself. A representation of a data source, referred to herein as an Information Reservoir, is constructed and maintained using probabilistic methodologies based upon a Poisson sampling approach. The Information Reservoir provides approximate answers to ad hoc queries, potentially in a small fraction of the time required to calculate an exact answer. Associated variances are also provided that may additionally be used to calculate confidence intervals bounding the exact answer. An Information Reservoir may be biased toward a subset of the information in the original data source and/or tailored to the anticipated query workload. Queries expressed as if directed to the original data source may be automatically translated to run against the Information Reservoir with little or no additional burden placed on the Information Reservoir user.
