  • Patent number: 10411497
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are described for generating power on a rotating unit of a system, such as a radiation system (e.g., CT system). The rotating unit comprises a generator that comprises a drive wheel. The drive wheel interfaces with a drive mechanism of a stationary unit. As the rotating unit is moved relative to the stationary unit, the drive wheel rotates along the drive mechanism causing power to be generated by the generator. • Patent number: 9728290
Abstract: Among other things, an energy shield (212) for a radiation system, such as a security imaging system, is provided. The energy shield is comprised of one or more flaps (300). At least one flap defines an aperture (320) providing a demarcation between a first flap segment (322) of the flap and a second flap segment (324) of the flap. The aperture (e.g., and a flexible member (326) positioned spatially proximate the aperture) provide for (e.g., facilitate) movement of the second flap segment relative to the first flap segment. In this manner, an amount of force required to be applied by an object to pass by the flap may be reduced when the object is small and merely contacts the second flap segment, for example. In this manner, baggage jams may be mitigated, for example, by reducing the likelihood that certain objects will be impeded from passing through the energy shield.

  • Publication number: 20070150803
Abstract: In an array of pixels, a method for segmenting a selected pixel of the array between at least two layers including identifying an N-by-N window centered upon the selected pixel, evaluating at least one pixel in the N-by-N window to determine whether the selected pixel is a potential text element, identifying an M-by-M window centered upon the selected pixel when the evaluation determines that the selected pixel is a potential text element, wherein the M-by-M window is smaller than the N-by-N window, and determining whether the potential text element includes text by comparing at least two pixels within the M-by-M window.

  • Publication number: 20070146794
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a digital image to reduce moiré artifacts while preserving or improving detailed features. Pixels may be categorized as halftone and/or detail pixels and filtered accordingly. A pixel may be categorized as halftone if intensity values over a first window laid over that pixel vary by less than a first predetermined threshold. A descreen filter may be applied to halftone pixels. The remaining pixels that are not categorized as halftone pixels are analyzed as potential text elements. A PTE may be categorized as a detail pixel if intensity values over a second window laid over that pixel vary by more than a second predetermined threshold. The second window may be smaller than the first window. A sharpening filter may be applied to detail pixels.

  • Publication number: 20070070427
Abstract: A method of selective dithering for enhancing the printability of an image, including receiving input pixels of an original input image and identifying the pixel classification of the input pixels, where the pixel classification characterizes each of the plurality of pixels based, at least in part, on their respective gray values. Thereafter, a dither input is added to at least some of the input pixels to generate a filtered and dithered image, where the strength of the dither input applied to generate the filtered and dithered image is based on the pixel classification. Full dither may be applied for smooth pixels, and little or no dither may be applied for edge pixels.

  • Publication number: 20070041053
Abstract: The input pixels in an image to be halftoned using error diffusion are dithered using a first type of passband dither. A second type of passband dither may also be added to a thresholding matrix used in halftoning. This second type of passband dither may be the same as the first type of passband dither. In such case, the second type of passband dither is a scaled multiple of the first type of passband dither. The halftoning process may be implemented in an application specific integrated circuit.

Abstract: One method for determining a gray background value of a scanned document having left, right, top and bottom edges includes obtaining a scanned image of a horizontal strip which includes at least one portion of the document and which includes at least one non-document area, and includes creating a histogram of pixel values, of the horizontal strip, inside the document edges while excluding from the histogram pixel values, of the horizontal strip, located outside the document edges. Another method for determining a gray background value includes obtaining a scanned image of a vertical strip. One method for determining skew of a scanned document includes obtaining a scanned image, which includes a leading document edge, using vertically-displaced successive horizontal scan lines, includes determining points of the leading edge, and includes fitting a line to the points. Another method for determining a skew uses horizontally-displaced successive vertical scan lines.
