  • Patent number: 10843458
Abstract: Techniques are presented for digital ink jet printing upon a substrate with a significant third dimension. Droplets in the range of 120 pL to 200 pL have been found suitable for substrates with variability, in the third dimension, of up to approximately 4 cm. A larger droplet can be generated by utilizing a plurality of drive pulses, each of which generates a smaller droplet, and having the plurality of smaller droplets combine in mid-air. The data to be printed can be derived from a 3D model and such 3D model can also be used to guide shaping of the substrate. The 3D model can be produced from 2D image data. If the 2D image data is a two-dimensional portrait photograph, a result, of using the present invention, can be a realistic portrait in the form of a bas-relief sculpture.

  • Patent number: 7338380
Abstract: A composite shaft assembly includes a core having an outwardly facing surface. At least one structure embedded in a resilient material extends from the outwardly facing surface. The outwardly facing surface defines an outer surface spaced from the outwardly facing surface which is fixable to an inner surface of a composite shaft.

  • Patent number: 6905416
Abstract: A flexible coupling is provided to connect a flange on a drive shaft to a flange on a driven shaft. Circumferentially spaced fastening means provide bores through the coupling through which bolts can be passed to connect it alternately to the one and then the other flange. Adjacent fastening means are interconnected by link and washers are positioned at opposite ends of the stack of links at each fastening means. In accordance with the invention the washers are formed with peripheral grooves which will be entered by the plastics material forming the body of the coupling, thus locking the washers against being expelled when bolts are subsequently passed through the bores.

  • Patent number: 6152339
Abstract: A vehicle carrier rack assembly for mounting upon the roof of the vehicle includes a cooperative clamping assembly for releasably mounting the carrier rack upon a vehicle roll bar. The rack assembly may further include at least one grommet assembly mounted at a hole formed in the vehicle roof and passing therethrough, in water-tight relationship, a portion of the cooperative, releasable engagement assembly for the vehicle rack. In other embodiments, the rack is hinged to pivot between a first position adjacent the vehicle roof and a second position spaced therefrom, e.g., to facilitate removal and replacement of the vehicle roof. A ladder may be mounted to the carrier rack at the rear of the vehicle to similar purpose.
