  • Publication number: 20070277637
Abstract: The lead screw assembly uses a traveler nut which includes a second “nut” screw in meshed contact with the lead screw to transfer the load on the lead screw assembly to thrust bearings. The nut screw is rotational disposed within the nut housing and journaled between a pair of thrust bearings. The orientation of the nut screw to the lead screw and the operative engagement between lead screw and nut screw allows a portion of the load to be transferred to the thrust bearings, thereby reducing the sliding friction of the traveler nut under load. Consequently, the majority of the load is carried by the thrust bearings, which enhances the power efficiency of the lead screw assembly.

  • Publication number: 20070194586
Abstract: The slide-out room is constructed from monocoque laminate wall panels interconnected by an end wall sub-frame. The end wall sub-frame is constructed from unique main extrusion members that are interconnected using key-locked miter joints. Each main extrusion member has a generally Z-shaped cross section, which allows the members to be joined using two joint keys fitted into spaced parallel key channels formed in the main extrusion members. The end wall sub frame also includes secondary extrusion members welded to the main extrusion members and interconnected using a lap joint. The secondary extrusion members have legs that are spaced from the legs of the main extrusion so that the monocoque panels can be fitted and secured between the legs to and from the side walls, ceiling and floor of the slide-out room. A monocoque panel is bonded directly to the outside of the end wall sub-frame to form the slide-out room end wall.

  • Patent number: 6928773
Abstract: A slide-out room for mobile living quarters is moved between a retracted position above the main floor of the main living area to an extended position with the auxiliary floor substantially flush with the main floor by engaging an extendable drive connected at one point to the slide-out room and connected at a second point to the main living area structure. The actuating system accommodates up and down movement of the auxiliary floor when the slide-out room is shifted. A cord retractor attachable to said mobile living quarters allows a power cord or other similarly flexible wires or tubing to be extended away from the main living area in conjunction with extension of the slide-out room. When the slide-out room is retracted, the cord retractor urges the cord to a resting position between the auxiliary floor and sub-floor in conjunction with the retraction of the slide-out room and prevents binding or bunching of the cord.

  • Patent number: 6536821
Abstract: A slide-out room for recreational vehicles, sleeper cabs of trucks, and similar mobile living quarters is supported for movement through an aperture in the side wall of the mobile living quarters by a set of four linkages, two of which are mounted between each side of the slide-out room in the corresponding side of the aperture of the side wall of the unit. When the slide-out room is fully retracted within the mobile living quarters, one of the linkages on each side of the slide-out room is fully extended and the other is fully collapsed. As the slide-out room is moved toward the fully-extended position, the other linkage gradually expands and the one linkage collapses, so in the fully extended, as well as the fully retracted position, the slide-out room is supported and aligned for movement through the aperture in the vehicle slide-out room, and the slide-out room is continuously supported as it travels between the extended and retracted positions.
