Abstract: In a three-point type safety belt in which the lap and diagonal belt straps in the position of the belt as fastened extend in V configuration transversely of the vehicle, the diagonal belt strap on one side of the seat of the vehicle is movably passed through a deflection fitting fixed to said one side, and from the deflection fitting the diagonal belt strap runs into a belt retracting device which exerts a yielding pull on the belt. The lap belt strap is fixed on said one side to the seat or to the vehicle. At the apex of the V configuration the belt is movably passed in such a way through two spaced openings in a buckle member that the portion of the buckle member between the openings therein constitutes a bar located at the V apex and extending transversely of the belt.

Abstract: A device for adjusting a strap of a safety belt for vehicles and like craft comprises a latch in the form of a bar which is transversely movable with respect to a base plate. The base plate is formed with an opening through which the strap is passed about the bar for clamping the strap between the bar and the base plate when the strap is subjected to pull. At a heavy pull at the strap, the bar is adapted to be shifted laterally of the opening in the direction of pull. Between the base plate and the bar the device has a thin flat member which is associated with the base plate and adapted, at a heavy pull at the strap, to be carried along by the bar when the latter is shifted laterally of the opening. At said shifting movement the flat member lies between the strap and the base plate so that the strap is protected against abrasion under the heavy load.

Abstract: One part of a buckle for safety belts for use in vehicles is a locking tongue and the other part is a buckle body having a pocket-shaped opening for the insertion of the locking tongue thereinto. The locking tongue insertion opening or pocket is defined in the buckle body by two fixed side plates which are spaced apart a distance substantially equal to the thickness of the locking tongue, and by guides coacting with the two longitudinal edge portions of the locking tongue. The buckle body includes a spring-actuated latch serving as a locking means, the latch being mounted to one side plate and adapted, by spring action, to be kept in locking position in which it preferably bears against the other side plate, at least one shoulder of the latch being situated in the pocket for engagement with a corresponding shoulder of the locking tongue.
