Abstract: Disclosed is a modification solution comprising -furfuryl alcohol; -a diluent; -a fire retardant, and -optionally a stabiliser, wherein the fire retardant comprises: -one or more nitrogen resins; and -phosphoric acid; a method of preparation thereof and wood modified therewith to achieve improve fire retardant and decay properties.
