  • Patent number: 10794797
Abstract: A device for sampling, preparing and analysing a sample, for example a suspension, comprises: a sampling device adapted to sampling a fluid sample, at least one sample preparation unit adapted to prepare the sample, and at least one analysing unit. By adapting the device for sampling and analysing a sample for placement in direct vicinity to a process pipe and adapting the sampling device to sample a fluid sample directly from a gate, a compact and cost-efficient device is provided, which also provides fast feedback to a process to be controlled.

  • Patent number: 6777201
Abstract: The concentration or amount of living micro-organisms in a liquid sample can be determined in a reliable manner by determining the concentration of a substance, secreted by the micro-organisms, in the sample, which sample then is subjected to a treatment killing the micro-organisms; whereupon the concentration of the substance is measured anew. The relation between the first and second concentration is used as a measure of the concentration of micro-organisms in the sample.

  • Publication number: 20040040867
Abstract: The concentration of dithionite can be fast and accurately measured in a sample by a method wherein a predetermined amount of peroxide is added to said sample, following which catalase is added to said sample in an incrementally growing dose during a predetermined time, monitoring the production of oxygen in the sample, and recording the onset of oxygen production as well as the amount of oxygen produced as a function of time. The recorded values are then taken as a measure of the amount of dithionite present in the sample.

  • Patent number: 6332951
Abstract: A method and a device for measuring the content of chemicals used in connection with bleaching of preferably cellulose fibers in a pulp, suspension for the purpose of providing a better and more uniform product quality and preventing overdosage of the bleaching chemical used. According to the invention a measurement sample is derived from a predetermined volume of the pulp suspension after or during the bleaching. Further, a catalyst in the shape of the enzyme catalase is added to the sample, which is agitated so that the bleaching chemical is decomposed and oxygen gas is generated, which oxygen gas pushes out a certain sample volume for the measurement sample, which sample volume is directly or indirectly converted, e.g. via a simple algorithm, to a value representing the content of the bleaching chemical used.

  • Patent number: 6124111
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for measuring the amount/activity of the enzyme catalase before or in connection with bleaching of cellulose fibers preferably in a pulp suspension for the purpose of providing a better and more uniform product quality and a correct dosing of the actual bleaching substance during the bleaching. According to the invention a measurement sample is derived from a predetermined volume of the pulp suspension after or during the bleaching. Further, a determined amount of bleaching substance is added to the sample, which is agitated so that the bleaching substance is decomposed and oxygen gas is generated, which oxygen gas pushes out a certain sample volume from the measurement sample, which sample volume is measured after a determined time and is directly or indirectly converted, e.g. via a simple algorithm, to a value representing the actual amount of catalase.

  • Patent number: 5536942
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for determining properties of fibers in a supension of said fibers with the aid of spectroscopic measurements carried out in a wavelength range within the near infrared range (NIR), comprising introducing the fiber suspension into a measuring cell (20) which is provided with a filter (35) and an outlet (47) at one end thereof; concentrating the fiber suspension in the cell while simultaneously measuring the absorbency until a predetermined value is obtained at that wavelength at which the measurement is effected, or for the highest peak of the registered spectrum, at which point supply of the suspension is stopped, the outlet (47) from the cell is closed and a complete spectrum within the wavelength range is registered, whereafter the sought properties of the fibers are determined in a computer unit on the basis of earlier calibrations carried out on samples of known fiber properties.

  • Patent number: 4442854
Abstract: An electro-pneumatic signal converter for converting an electrical current signal into a pneumatic pressure, comprising a force balancing system where a magnetic force is balanced against a pneumatic force, consists of a coil (11) through which the electrical signal current flows, a magnetic circuit comprising a core (12) of ferromagnetic material disposed in the coil (11) with a nozzle chamber (14) with a mouth in the form of a nozzle (13) in one end of the core, a flapper (17) of ferromagnetic material over the nozzle and a link (16) of ferromagnetic material which closes the magnetic circuit between the flapper and the opposite end of the core, a feed line (19, 19A, 19B) for a constant flow of feed air into the nozzle chamber (14) and out again through the nozzle (13) into the gap (25) between the nozzle and the flapper, and a pressure-sensing line (24) from the nozzle chamber to a pressure-dependent member (7) to transmit a pneumatic pressure signal from the nozzle chamber to the pressure-dependent member
