Publication number: 20210268323Abstract: A testing apparatus (11) for testing a fire sprinkler system combines components for testing both the function of a tamper switch (not shown) incorporated into local zone valve (18) and the working of a flow switch (12) that detects flow in a pipe (13). The assembly (10) also comprises a module (19) which is connected to the flow switch (12), the pump (16) and the local zone valve (18) to monitor their performance. A master controller (20) is provided for reading data from the module (19) and for instructing the module (19) to control the operation of the various components of the testing apparatus (11) connected thereto. Information received by the master controller (20) can be relayed to a building's fire alarm panel (21). In normal use, the module (19) will transmit signals to the master controller (20) to activate the fire alarm via the fire alarm panel (21) in response to monitoring of the flow switch (12) and zone valve (18).Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2017Publication date: September 2, 2021Inventor: Stuart CAIN

Patent number: 8042187Abstract: A security indication spanning tree system and method is presented. In one embodiment the asset value of a network node is determined. The exposure rating of said network node is ascertained. The impact risk to a preferred functionality due to an attack from another network node is analyzed. A spanning tree schematic of a network including the network node is created, wherein the spanning tree schematic includes an indication of the asset value.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2003Date of Patent: October 18, 2011Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventor: Stuart Cain

Publication number: 20110197093Abstract: A method for reducing the connect time for server access by wireless devices connecting to the server via a gateway is described. A connection from the wireless device to the gateway is established and a request for information on the server is received from the wireless device and transmitted to the server. A determination is made that a response from the server is not forthcoming and a busy indicator response is transmitted to the wireless device. The connection between the wireless device and the gateway is terminated and the request to the server is retransmitted. In another embodiment, a response is received from the server and a determination is made that the received server response is not the requested information and a response is transmitted to the wireless device. The connection between the wireless device and the gateway is terminated and the request to the server is retransmitted.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2011Publication date: August 11, 2011Inventor: Stuart Cain

Patent number: 7666303Abstract: A separator tank for separating and trapping contaminants in rainwater and runoff is disclosed. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the separator tank comprises a container having a bottom wall, side wall, and top wall defining an internal chamber; an insert located inside of the internal chamber, the insert comprising a weir defining an intake area between the weir and the side wall; and a round-edged orifice positioned within the intake area; an inlet conduit for introducing an influent liquid into the intake area; wherein the weir is positioned such that the weir induces the influent liquid to flow in a swirling motion within the intake area. According to another embodiment of the present invention an insert for a separator tank is disclosed. The insert includes a weir defining an intake area for receiving an influent liquid; and a round-edged orifice positioned within the intake area.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2007Date of Patent: February 23, 2010Assignee: Monteco Ltd.Inventors: Gregory Richard Williams, Daniel F.
