  • Publication number: 20160228193
Abstract: A method for performing arthroplasty on a joint using a surgical navigation system and augmented reality techniques. Articular anatomical structures of the joint are located using the surgical navigation system. Using the augmented reality techniques, graphical information of implant components is superimposed at correct positions on the located articular anatomical structures of the joint. Also, constraint envelopes are displayed at correct positions relative to the located articular anatomical structures of the joint. The constraint envelopes constrain a manipulator to prepare the joint so that the implant components can be installed at correct positions in the prepared joint. The manipulator may be a passive manipulator, active manipulator, or telemanipulator, and may be mounted in-situ.

  • Patent number: 8257021
Abstract: A gas-turbine engine includes stator vanes (1) angularly variable about their longitudinal axes by actuating elements in order to control airflow supplied to downstream rotor blades (6). The actuating elements are arranged in the most confined downstream stages of the compressors and/or turbines, with these stages being exposed to high temperatures, so that stable and efficient operation is ensured. The actuating elements (8) fixed to the inner or the outer casing (4, 12) are made of a material expanding, contracting or deforming in dependence of the temperature and transmit the respective deformation to the swivellably borne stator vanes (1).

  • Patent number: 7529704
Abstract: A computer-based system for trading financial instruments alerts a computer operated by a financial advisor at points where a client interacts with the system. Specifically, in response to the client entering an order to trade a financial instrument, a first alert is transmitted in real-time to the financial advisor's computer including information pertaining to the trade. In the case of validation, in response to the first alert, the user of the financial advisor computer can, in real-time, take action regarding the validated trade prior to execution of the trade. On the other hand, in the case of non-validation, a second alert is transmitted to the financial advisor's computer, and the user of the financial advisor computer can, in real-time, again take action regarding the non-validated trade prior to execution of the trade.
