Publication number: 20240106314Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a magnetically geared apparatus. In an example the magnetically geared comprises: a first mover comprising a plurality of first permanent magnets; a stator; a second mover; and a flux shield aligned with the first plurality of permanent magnets for attenuating magnetic flux. One of the stator and the second mover comprises a plurality of pole pieces and is positioned between the first mover and the other of the stator and the second mover. The first mover, the stator and the second mover are aligned in a first direction, and wherein the flux shield is spaced from the plurality of first permanent magnets in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction by a nonmagnetic region, thereby attenuating magnetic flux in the second direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Glynn COOKE, Radu-Stefan DRAGAN, David POWELL, Gregg WILSON, Stuart CALVERLEY

Patent number: 7857691Abstract: An entertainment system (1) comprises a gaming server (2), a player station (3) operable by a player to display a simulation of a multi-stage accumulator game having a boxing theme, and a communication network (4) providing communication between the gaming server (2) and the player station (3). The gaming server (2) operates under stored program control to regulate the progress of the game and to determine an outcome thereof. The player places a wager on the outcome of the game, which is either a successful outcome in which the player wins a prize, and an unsuccessful outcome in which the player forfeits the wager. The prize may either be collected by the player or carried over as a wager for a succeeding stage of the multi-stage accumulator game.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2005Date of Patent: December 28, 2010Assignee: Waterleaf LimitedInventors: Robert James Head, Neil Hewitson, Matthew David, Thomas David, Stuart Powell, Matthew Killgallon

The wrapping materials possess multi-layer coatings. The wrapping materials possess coatings in the form of series of spaced apart bands, each band possessing a series of layers. At least one of the coating layers can have a filler material dispersed or suspended within a film-forming material of that layer. For a representative wrapping material, a pattern of applied to the wire side major surface of the wrapping material substrate as a plurality of layers, and at least one of the layers includes ethylcellulose and calcium carbonate. For that layer, the calcium carbonate is present in an amount greater than the ethylcellulose, on a weight basis.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2003Date of Patent: July 3, 2007Assignee: R.J. Patent number: 4418871Abstract: A rapid reduction apparatus and method includes a reduction and classification apparatus (20) having a reducing unit (22) composed of a contraction cone (28) for receiving the material to be processed. The contraction cone (28) is connected to an expansion cone (32) through an intermediate venturi section (30). Air is drawn through the venturi section and the expansion cone (32) by a turbine (34) mounted below the expansion cone. A standing shock wave (310) is established in the expansion cone, and material loaded into the expansion cone is disintegrated and reduced as a result of attrition grinding within the shock wave and upon contact with the blades of the turbine. The reduced material is then discharged into the classifier assembly (50) where the particles and air flow undergo a series of vertical motion reversals defined by a plurality of baffles (112-128) extending alternately from the top and bottom of the classifier assembly (50).Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1981Date of Patent: December 6, 1983Assignee: P.V.
