Patent number: 11936463Abstract: Measures for managing satellite bearer resources of a satellite telecommunications network. A corpus of data based on historical satellite bearer resource allocations is maintained. A machine learning agent is trained with the corpus to determine a plurality of weights for use in directing satellite bearer resource management in the satellite telecommunications network. A satellite bearer resource allocation request is received. A set of features is extracted from a current environment of the satellite telecommunications network. The set of features defines currently allocated satellite bearer resources. On the basis of the determined plurality of weights and the set of features, satellite bearer resources of the satellite telecommunications network are managed to satisfy the request.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2020Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Airbus Defence and Space LimitedInventors: Ashley Baker, Paul Adams, Sam Wooler, Brian Van Luipen, Stuart Taylor

Patent number: 6100882Abstract: A computer workstation supports speech recognition software 50 and conferencing software 45, and is involved in an audio conference with one or more other workstations. Speech from the user at that workstation is transmitted to the other workstation(s), and also converted into text by the speech recognition software. The conferencing software then transmits the text to the other workstation(s). Likewise, the conferencing software also receives the text equivalent of spoken contributions from the other workstation(s). This received text, together with the locally generated text, is stored in a text file so as to produce a set of minutes for the audio conference.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1995Date of Patent: August 8, 2000Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Richard Anthony Sharman, Paul Stuart Adams

Patent number: 6059520Abstract: An apparatus and process of loading rolls of roofing material onto a stationary pallet, wherein the process performs a series of operations. Each operation includes the steps of: (a) loading a roll of roofing material onto a table rotatably mounted on an upender, wherein the table is in a loading position such that the roll of roofing material rests on the table in a generally horizontal position; (b) rotating the table to a generally vertical position, thereby orienting the roll of roofing material to a generally vertical position; (c) moving the upender to an unloading position above the pallet; and (d) unloading the roll of roofing material from the table onto the pallet. The pallet is positioned stationary relative to the loading position of the table throughout the process.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1998Date of Patent: May 9, 2000Assignee: Owens Corning Fiberglas Technology, Inc.Inventors: Paul Stuart Adams, Richard Franke Hayden, Gerald M. Patent number: 5913920Abstract: Two computer workstations are connected together by a communications link 300. One workstation (the local workstation) 100 includes a window 610 which is used to display a copy of what is currently being displayed on the screen of the other (remote) workstation 200. Each time an update is made to the screen of the remote workstation, it must be transmitted to the local workstation. A bounding rectangle 920 for the area of the screen changed by the update is determined. If the bounding rectangle is greater than a predetermined size, then a first packet is transmitted from the remote workstation to the local workstation, prior to the transmission of the actual update itself. This first packet indicates the bounding rectangle for the updated area of screen. The local workstation responds to the first packet by greying (shading) the corresponding region 925 of the window which contains the copy of the remote screen, thereby indicating to a user of the local screen that an update is imminent.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1996Date of Patent: June 22, 1999Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Paul Stuart Adams, Benedict Daniel Gladwyn, Vincent Joseph Singleton
