  • Patent number: 8800613
Abstract: A woodturning tool according to embodiments of the present invention includes a shaft with a shaft tip, wherein the shaft tip is made of a first metal, and a cutting edge insert, at least a portion of an outer surface of the cutting edge insert rigidly joined to an inner surface of the shaft tip, the cutting edge insert formed of a second metal, the cutting edge insert being fluted and sharpened to form a cutting edge for woodturning, wherein the second metal is different from the first metal, and wherein the second metal is more wear-resistant than the first metal.

  • Publication number: 20140216605
Abstract: A negative rake scraper with a cutting blade and a cutting blade housing assembly that securely houses the cutting blade such that the blade can extend, retract, and be easily removed from the housing. The housing and the blade may have coplanar bottom and/or top surfaces providing reduced vibration and uninhibited movement of the tool across a tool rest. The cutting blade and housing may be removably attached to a vibration-dampening bolster that can be removably attached to handles of various dimensions.

  • Patent number: 8365427
Abstract: An angle gauge comprising multiple surfaces around its perimeter, each of which provides for two or more fixed sharpening angles; each angle incorporating angular compensation for workpiece thickness and variations in peripheral grinding wheel diameter in order to quickly and accurately set an angular relationship between an curved or planar abrasive surface and a tool rest. The angle gauge has no moving or adjustable parts and is separate from both the grinder and the tool rest. The angle gauge may also be attached to a holder allowing for angle setup when the workpiece cannot be supported by a platform or tool rest.

  • Publication number: 20120270479
Abstract: A grinding platform with an axis of rotation that is on the plane of the abrasive when used with belt grinders and on the plane that is vertical and tangent to the curvature of the abrasive when used with wheel grinders; such grinder having an angle gauge and possibly a vernier scale that allow for accurate determination of the angle of the tool rest in relation to the grinding surface. The grinding platform can also be continuously adjusted horizontally to compensate for wheel wear.

  • Publication number: 20120267008
Abstract: This parting tool is compromised of a cutting blade with indexed depth markings allowing the depth of the cut to measured from the blade and a cutting blade housing that secures the blade such that the blade can extend, retract, and be easily removed from the housing. The housing and the blade have a coplanar bottom surface providing for reduced vibration and uninhibited movement of the tool across a tool rest. The blade and housing are secured in a vibration dampening bolster that can be removably attached to handles of various dimensions.
