  • Publication number: 20160322880
Abstract: A laminated-barrel structure for use in a permanent-magnet power-generation system is described. The structure includes a rigid outer ring, a rigid inner ring being concentric with and positioned within the rigid outer ring, and a damping intermediate ring positioned between the rigid outer ring and the rigid inner ring. The intermediate ring can include polymer and the rigid rings can include metal. The rigid inner ring can include recesses for receiving stator components of the power-generation system.

  • Patent number: 9450462
Abstract: An axial flux machine comprising a rotor mounted about an axis of rotation and having two axial faces. A first stator ring is positioned on the rotor adjacent to a first axial face, to define an air gap, between the first stator ring and first axial face. The first stator ring is formed by stator ring segments, each having a radially inner and outer edge. A second stator ring is positioned on another side of the rotor, adjacent to the second axial face, to define an air gap between the second stator ring and second axial face. The second stator ring is, also, formed by stator ring segments, each having a radially inner and outer edge and corresponding to a first stator ring segment. The stator ring segments are deflectable in unison in response to axial deflection of the rotor, to maintain the air gaps, due to link elements.

  • Publication number: 20150321740
Abstract: A cycloidal marine-propulsion system is disclosed. The system comprises a blade-mounting disc and a plurality of propeller blades. Each of the plurality of propeller blades has a respective primary blade axis and is connected to the disc in a manner allowing the blade to be rotated about its primary blade axis independent of any about-axis rotation of every other one of the propeller blades. The system also includes a plurality of electric actuators, each actuator being connected to a respective one of the propeller blades. The system further includes a controller in communication with the electric actuators for controlling selectively each of the electric actuators.

  • Publication number: 20140132109
Abstract: A rotating electrical machine comprises a rotor having an axis of rotation and a stator assembly surrounding the rotor. The stator assembly comprises a plurality of circumferentially arranged stator segments and a plurality of link elements of which at least one link element extends between each of the circumferentially adjacent stator segments. Each link element provides a rigid circumferential connection between circumferentially adjacent stator segments so that the linked stator segments form a torsionally stiff annular stator and also provides a radially flexible connection between circumferentially adjacent stator segments to permit relative movement between adjacent linked stator segments in the radial direction.

  • Patent number: 7550013
Abstract: A process for removing dye on the surface of natural textiles utilizing ozone is disclosed. The process also prevents redeposit of dye which is residual in a dyeing process. The time and temperature of the process is dependent upon the type of dye and the temperature the process is run. The process can be used in vat dyeing, jet dyeing, package dyeing and the like.

  • Patent number: 7501596
Abstract: A dimension sensor is used in conjunction with a tube and includes a body member and at least one detector element. The body member has an inner surface defining an opening sized to receive the tube. The at least one detector element is connected to the body member and has a detector portion extending into the opening. When the tube is received in the opening, the detector portion is initially disposed apart from the tube. A method using the dimension sensor stops expansion of the tube expanding from a pre-expanded state to a desired expanded state. A pumping device is actuated to pressurize a fluid by an amount sufficient to cause the tube to expand from the pre-expanded state to the desired expanded state. When the tube expands to the desired expanded state, the pumping device deactivates thereby stopping expansion of the tube at the desired expanded state.
