  • Publication number: 20240239352
Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for detecting and responding to speeding violations. An example method executed by a processor in a first vehicle (a law-enforcement vehicle, for example) can include receiving, from a vehicle speed detection system, a speed measurement associated with a second vehicle. The processor may determine that the speed of the second vehicle exceeds a threshold speed and may operate a camera to capture an image of the second vehicle. The image may be evaluated for determining at least one identifying feature of the second vehicle. A record may then be generated. The record can include the speed measurement, the image, and the first identifying feature. In some cases, the record may be transmitted to another law-enforcement vehicle for pursuing the second vehicle and/or to an Internet-of-Things (IoT) roadside unit for tracking the second vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20240242553
Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for securing an item in a vehicle. An example method can include a processor receiving a primary trigger to unlock a gate of the vehicle, followed by unlocking of the gate to allow access to a cargo compartment. A secondary trigger may then be received for unlocking a security lock that is a part of a cargo item holder located in the cargo compartment. The processor may perform an authentication procedure upon the secondary trigger and unlock the security lock, based on a successful authentication of the secondary trigger. In an example implementation, the cargo item holder is a gun rack that includes a security lock, the primary trigger can be a signal produced by activating a pushbutton switch, and the secondary trigger can be a spoken command, a signal generated by a smart tag, or an image of an individual.

  • Publication number: 20240241241
Abstract: A vehicle having a scanning unit and a detection unit is disclosed. The scanning unit may scan and detect an occupant presence in a vehicle interior portion. The detection unit may detect a trigger event associated with the vehicle. The vehicle may further include a processor configured to obtain a trigger event information from the detection unit. The processor may further determine a scanning unit setting based on the trigger event information. The scanning unit setting may be associated with at least one of a scan order, a fidelity mode and a scan frequency for the scanning unit. The processor may determine the scanning unit setting such that a vehicle power consumption may be optimized. The processor may further output a control signal to the scanning unit to scan the vehicle interior portion based on the determined scanning unit setting.

  • Publication number: 20240239303
Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for controlling access to electrical power outlets in a vehicle. An example method executed by a processor may include determining that the vehicle is in a key-off state and detecting a door of the vehicle being opened (or detecting the door being unlocked by use of a passive entry device) when the vehicle is in the key-off state. A time period may be provided after the first door is opened or unlocked so as to allow an individual to operate a switch for coupling an electrical power source to an electrical power outlet in the vehicle. The electrical power outlet may be disconnected from the electrical power source based on detecting a failure of the individual to operate the switch within the time period and/or based on detecting a movement of the individual outside a boundary defined around the vehicle.
