Patent number: 9819549Abstract: A method for classifying packets includes determining an execution indication indicating at least one amongst a service and application being executed on a user terminal and generating uplink packets; determining a marker on the basis of PCC rules available at the user terminal and at least one execution indication, the marker for identifying at least one of a service and an application associated to uplink packets; transmitting the marker and the uplink packets, to a PCEF network entity; determining an uplink classification, at the PCEF network entity, for received uplink packets based on the marker; storing, at said PCEF network entity, an association between information related to an uplink flow corresponding to the uplink packets and uplink classification; receiving, at said PCEF network entity, downlink packets corresponding to the uplink packets; determining a downlink classification, at the PCEF network entity, for received downlink packets based on the stored association.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2012Date of Patent: November 14, 2017Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Alfonso de Jesus Perez Martinez, Rodrigo Alvarez Dominguez, Stuart Clark

Patent number: 9512644Abstract: A lock assembly (10) including an orientation sensor (26) and at least one component operable in two modes (32). The orientation sensor (26) is adapted to indicate at least two orientations of the orientation sensor (26). The at least one component (32) is operable in a predetermined one of the at least two modes responsive to an indication of one of the at least two orientations from the orientation sensor (26) and is operable in a predetermined other of the at least two modes responsive to an indication of the other of the at least two orientations from the orientation sensor (26).Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2012Date of Patent: December 6, 2016Assignee: Gainsborough Hardware Industries LimitedInventors: Harris Lambrou, Stuart Clark

Publication number: 20150304723Abstract: A coax server acts as a proxy between a coax transmission infrastructure and an Internet Protocol (IP) transmission infrastructure. An incoming request is received from a particular one of a plurality of coax client devices on the coax infrastructure. A request for specific media content is transmitted to a media-on-demand server in response to receiving the incoming request. A media stream is received over the IP infrastructure from the media-on-demand server, the media stream corresponding to the specific media content, and the coax server allocates a coax channel of sufficient bandwidth on the coax infrastructure and transmits the media stream on the coax channel utilizing the RF modulation scheme. A pointer indicating the coax channel on which the media stream is being transmitted is sent to the particular coax client device. The coax channel is unknown to other of the coax client devices besides the particular coax client device.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2015Publication date: October 22, 2015Inventors: David Andrew Hulse, David Nicol, Stuart Clark, Mark Howard Bryars

Patent number: 9077821Abstract: Currently existing mechanisms to optimize the quality of experience (QoE) in accordance with user data plans are rather based on user self-managed usage of his mobile user data plan with, for example, help from external applications which continuously evaluate the limits reached. There is thus a need for deployment of intelligence in the network, in order to avoid abrupt downgrades in the QoE for subscribers that go over the monthly quota of their data plan. To overcome these problems, or at least to mitigate them, an embodiment of the present invention provides for an optimization of the user's quota by gradually reducing the required bandwidth for the content that the user requests. This is achieved by a method which takes into account the consumed/remaining volumes in the user data plan as well as the user browsing habits, and which provides context enrichment to content providers to enable taking decisions.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2012Date of Patent: July 7, 2015Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Miguel Angel Pallares Lopez, Stuart Clark, Pablo Molinero Fernandez, Miguel Angel Muñoz De La Torre Alonso
