  • Publication number: 20020014359
Abstract: The invention uses electrical power generated by the occupants of the vehicle to supplement that power supplied by a battery in a vehicle utilizing an electric motor. The power is generated by an occupant of the vehicle operating pedals. This vehicle may be either an electric vehicle or a hybrid vehicle. By adding electrical power generated by the occupants, the amount of power drawn from the batteries is reduced, extending the range attainable by an electric vehicle. Also, in a hybrid vehicle, the operation time of non-battery energy generation source, such as the conventional internal combustion engine, is reduced.
