  • Publication number: 20090099549
Abstract: A sheath shaped and dimensioned for reducing trauma and easing insertion thereof includes an inner sheath member shaped and dimensioned to fit around a guidewire in a manner permitting relative movement, the inner sheath member including an inner sheath tip having a primary bevel and a circumferential conical surface. The sheath also includes an outer sheath member shaped and dimensioned to fit around the inner sheath member in a manner permitting relative movement. The outer sheath member includes an outer sheath tip having a primary bevel and a circumferential conical surface.

  • Publication number: 20080167611
Abstract: It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide a needle stick protection device. The device includes a housing shaped and dimensioned for positioning about a syringe with an attached needle. The housing includes a first housing member telescopically coupled to a second housing member. A locking member is associated with a first slot of the first housing member for selectively engaging a first detent to control positioning of the second housing member relative to the first housing member. The locking member includes a first lateral retaining recess formed within the first slot for seating of the first detent when the second housing member is in its forward most position, the first lateral retaining recess being circumferentially located along a side of the first slot. The needle may be selectively covered and uncovered by selective alignment of the first detent with the slot in manner permitting controlled motion of the first housing member relative to the second housing member.

  • Patent number: 7211065
Abstract: A needle stick protection device includes a housing shaped and dimensioned for positioning about a needle. The housing includes a first housing member telescopically coupled to a second housing member. The first housing member includes an open first end and an open second end. The second housing member includes an open first end and a substantially closed second end, the second end including an aperture shaped and dimensioned to permit the passage of a needle therethrough. The device also includes a mechanism for locking the first housing member relative to the second housing member wherein the second housing member moves relative to the first housing member to facilitate retraction and extension of the needle through the aperture at the second end of the second housing member.

  • Patent number: 7207975
Abstract: A needle stick protection device includes a housing and a locking member positioned within the housing to permit the selective locking of the needle relative to the housing. The locking member includes a spring biased strip having first and second upwardly extending arms connected by a central base member. The first and second upwardly extending arms are biased relative to each other and respectively include a first needle aperture and second needle aperture. A release member is associated with the locking member for facilitating the controlled release of a needle locked in position by the locking member. The release member engages the first upwardly extending arm and the second upwardly extending arm such that selective movement of the release member causes the first and second upwardly extending arms to move between a first locking position and a second release position.

  • Patent number: 7101356
Abstract: An implantable dual chambered catheter device includes a first chamber and a second chamber integrally joined. The first chamber includes a hollow first elastomeric member contained within a first slotted outer housing. A first end of the first elastomeric member is fitted with a first end cap shaped and dimensioned to accept conventional catheter tubes and the second end of the first elastomeric member is closed. The second chamber includes a hollow second elastomeric member contained within a second slotted outer housing. A first end of the second elastomeric member is fitted with a second end cap shaped and dimensioned to accept conventional catheter tubes and the second end of the second elastomeric member is closed. Needle access to the first and second chambers of the implantable catheter device is through respective slots formed within the first and second outer housings.
