  • Patent number: 8316116
Abstract: A network management system is provided for managing a computer network. The management system is configured to represent the computer network as having one of a plurality of defined network states. Once the state of the network has been identified, the management system can assist the user in making modifications to the computer network and in making recommendations to the user for possible modifications to the computer network. These modifications can include, for example, configuring network devices, removing network devices, replacing network devices, and adding new network devices.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 7, 2012
Date of Patent: November 20, 2012
    Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Stuart Hamilton, Pamela S. Lee, Archana Rao

  • Patent number: 4387561
Abstract: An apparatus 10 for consuming coal in powering a gas turbine engine 12 is disclosed. The apparatus includes an auxiliary combustor 16 and a partial gasifier 18. The gasifier 18 produces combustible char and combustible fluids. The combustible fluids are burned in the gas turbine engine. The combustible char is burned in the auxiliary combustor to form high temperature gases. Heat is transferred from the high temperature gases to the working medium flow path of the gas turbine engine. The exhaust from the gas turbine engine provides combustion air to the fluidized bed combustor.

  • Patent number: 4387560
Abstract: A combined powerplant 10 employing a gas turbine engine cycle 12 and a steam turbine engine cycle 14 is disclosed. The powerplant includes a partial gasifier 22 and an auxiliary combustor 20. The powerplant utilizes the heating value of coal in a two-stage combustion process by burning the gases derived from the coal within the gas turbine engine and by burning the char derived from the coal externally of the engine in the auxiliary combustor. Heat is transferred from the auxiliary combustor to the respective working mediums of both engines.

  • Patent number: 4183208
Abstract: An increase in the temperature of the gaseous working medium in a gas turbine engine fueled with coal-fired gasifier having a rotating fluidized bed, where the coal is fed radially inwardly through the bed toward the axis of rotation is obtained by including a secondary combustor. The gasifier is fed with compressor discharge air and is operated fuel rich by limiting the amount of compressor discharge air fed to the fluidized bed. The excess compressor discharge air mixes with the exhaust from the gasifier for further combustion resulting in an increase in the temperature of the gaseous working medium that is ultimately utilized for driving the turbine of the engine.
