    Abstract: The new fishing rod holder and the method of using it, relate to the use of the holder having a stake for insertion into the ground, and a fishing pole holding member, which is swingably connected to the stake and which can be swung to a storage position adjacent to the stake. The fishing rod holding member has a rod receiving portion including a strength imparting neck and a curved lip which cooperate in supporting a fishing rod handle of various different sizes and shapes in a secure manner without any need of adjustment of the rod holding member.
