  • Patent number: 6439759
Abstract: A device for blending materials comprising a carrier support (1) arranged to support a closed bag (3) containing a material to be blended, a kneading mechanism in the form of paddles (5) which are arranged to apply a kneading action to the bag walls for homogenizing its contents, and a clamping device (4) for holding the bag closed and against the carrier support (1) during kneading. The kneading mechanism (5) is arranged to act in conjunction with the carrier support (1) and an island baffle (7) to cause the contents of the bag to circulate during kneading.

  • Patent number: 6438236
Abstract: Apparatus for labelling a stereophonic signal includes a plurality of notch filters having selected center frequencies to form notches at the selected frequencies in the channels of a stereophonic audio signal. Code generating components produce a coded label signal in the form of one or more code words, with the code being formed of selected signal bursts at the selected frequencies. The coded label signals are inserted into both channels of the audio signal, in the notches formed by the notch filters. The code signal amplitude bears a predetermined relationship to the audio signal amplitude in each channel.

  • Publication number: 20020108144
Abstract: A new family of anti-microbial proteins is described. A prototype protein can be isolated from Macadamia integrifolia. DNA encoding the protein is also described as well as DNA constructs that can be used to express the anti-microbial protein or to introduce the anti-microbial protein into a plant. Compositions comprising the anti-microbial protein or the anti-microbial protein per se can be administered to plants or mammalian animals to combat microbial infestation.

  • Patent number: 6402621
Abstract: A torsional vibration damper, for example a twin mass flywheel (10), has an input element (11) and an output element (12) which are relatively rotatable against the action of a damping means which includes a plurality of linkages (40). Each linkage includes a plurality of interconnected links (41, 42), at least one of which is flexible in an axial sense relative to the remainder of the damper to accommodate forces applied to the flexible link as a result of relative tilting of the damper elements (11, 12) during use of the damper. Various designs of generally radially extending flexible bob weight links (41) and additional connecting links (42) are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6354247
Abstract: Apparatus to assist a person in controlling an animal, e.g. a dog, on a leash (2) attaches the leash to a loop (26) in the middle of a length of elasticised cord (“shock cord”), the ends (28) of which are attached just above the hocks of the rear legs of the dog. The shock cord runs freely through a central ring (16) on the back of the animal and then through guide rings (14) on each side of the body, these guide means being held in place by a harness (4) having straps (8, 10) around the body and chest of the animal. When the dog pulls on the leash a reactive tensile force is set up in the cord (6) which has the effect of resisting rearward movement of the hind legs and may even result in the dog sitting.

  • Publication number: 20020009973
Abstract: A communication network (10) utilized for providing communications between a first party and a second party includes a surveillance server (26) within a core network (10) to provide communication surveillance capability. The ore network (10) may be a packet data network, and the surveillance server (26) is operable responsive to trigger information to establish communications surveillance. Communication surveillance may be established by creating duplicate bearer packets of those data packets carrying the communicated data between the parties, creating duplicate control packets of those data packets carrying in-band or out-of-band call control information between the parties and within the packet data network, and/or various combinations thereof. The duplicate bearer packets and the duplicate control packets are routed to appropriate authorized law enforcement agencies for providing surveillance.

  • Patent number: 6237300
Abstract: A tie bracket for linking adjacent end studs of two or more stud wall subframes extending at an angle to each other, comprises a shaped element of sheet metal which includes a generally polygonal centre portion (12) defining at least three margins (14) intersecting at respective corners, for being accommodated between the end studs. A plurality of tabs (20) project respectively from at least two of the margins for engaging respective apertures in the end studs. Each tab is of a length in the direction of projection greater than its width and of broadly similar order to the lengths of the longer of said margins. Respective formations (28) are provided in each of the tabs to define alternative bending lines (29) spaced in the direction of projection.

  • Patent number: 6233228
Abstract: A personal communication system provides full duplex digital communications between multiple users for both audio and data. A universal adaptor interface receives a plurality of wireless communications. The wireless adaptor interface multiplexes the plurality of wireless communications into a composite signal. The universal adapter interface transmits the composite signal wirelessly. At least one personal communications unit receives the composite signal. Multiplexing the plurality of wireless communications facilitates simultaneous reception thereof by the personal communications units.
