  • Publication number: 20140234406
Abstract: The present invention provides novel compositions comprising a nutritional supplement containing vitamin D-3 (cholecalciferol) and other supporting nutrients (i.e., fat-soluble vitamins A and E) to be administered orally via capsules to human subjects for the prophylaxis and mitigation of hair thinning and hair loss in both men and women. Colloidal silicon dioxide functions to form a nanoparticulate suspension and acts as a viscosifier to thicken the oil(s) used in the capsule filling operation. The colloidal silica contains silicon which acts as a nutrient to help strengthen existing hair, and also functions as a microencapsulation agent, which can incorporate vitamins A and E into its porous structure by sonication.

  • Publication number: 20080153679
Abstract: The invention concerns a convertible gym training device intended to be removably connected to a weight-training device that permits training of lower and upper body limbs. According to the invention, such a convertible gym training device in particular comprises: an essentially quadrangular frame (1014); an arm actuator (107) rotatably connected to the said frame (1014); resilient return means (40) opposing a force against the rotation of the said arm actuator (107) relatively to the said frame (1014); mechanical link means (400) connecting the said arm actuator (107) with the said resilient return means (40), said mechanical link means (400) being designed to oppose a variable back moving force against the said arm actuator (107), all along its rotation travel, said back moving force being variable according to a predetermined load curve.

  • Patent number: 5798524
Abstract: An energy filtering system of an EFTEM is automatically adjusted using a computer. The computer inserts an energy-selecting slit into the beam path and begins monitoring the position of the electron beam through a combination of the current sensors integral to the slit and the readout of an electron camera. The beam is centered within the slit by adjusting an energy dispersing element while monitoring beam sensors. After initial alignment, the slit is retracted and a reference aperture is inserted at the entrance to the energy filter. The electron camera captures an image of the reference aperture and the computer analyzes the deviations of the aperture image from its known physical dimensions in order to evaluate the electron optical distortions and aberrations of the filter. The computer uses the determined optical parameters to adjust the distortion and aberration correcting optical elements of the filter, whose effects are known due to previous calibration.

  • Patent number: 5083486
Abstract: A method and apparatus for trimming solid stick deodorants to provide for a protruding rounded deodorant stick in the container in a continuous manner on subsequent deodorant sticks whereby the deodorant stick is brought into registration with a means for raising the solid deodorant stick to a predetermined height, the deodorant stick then being transported into registration with a rotating knife which trims the deodorant stick and imparts a rounded oval configuration to the top of the deodorant stick, the deodorant stick then being transported to a conveyor and released for further packaging. The apparatus and method accomplishes the trimming in a continuous and automatic manner.

  • Patent number: 4034358
Abstract: The temperature variation of the bubble collapse field of a class of garnet magnetic bubble layer materials is selected by control of octahedral site substitution during layer growth. This permits the growth of layers, whose temperature dependence of critical magnetic properties more closely match the temperature dependence of bias magnet materials, resulting in extended operating temperature range and/or wider operating margins (with attendant improvement in manufacturing yield). Layer growth at higher temperature results in a larger rate of change of collapse field by producing greater octahedral occupation of predominantly tetrahedrally coordinated germanium.

  • Patent number: 4002803
Abstract: The temperature variation of the bubble collapse field of a class of garnet magnetic bubble layer materials is selected by control of octahedral site substitution during layer growth. This permits the growth of layers, whose temperature dependence of critical magnetic properties more closely matches the temperature dependence of available bias magnet materials, resulting in extended operating temperature range and/or wider operating margins (with attendant improvement in manufacturing yield). A preferred substitution species is lutetium, known as a dodecahedral site occupant, for which it has been determined that a significant and controllable octahedral occupancy can be produced by suitable choice of growth conditions.

  • Patent number: 3964035
Abstract: Members of a particular class of magnetic garnet compositions show characteristics useful for incorporation in magnetic memory devices which depend for their operation on the positioning of single wall domains ("bubbles"). Such compositions, ordinarily in the form of a supported layer, manifest high limiting bubble velocity, thereby making possible high record and access rates. Tetrahedral iron sites in the concerned compositions are occupied by non-magnetic ions in amount such as to result in magnetically balanced iron sub-lattices so that the magnetic moment contribution is made primarily by dodecahedral site ions. Europium is a necessary dodecahedral site occupant. High limiting velocity is attributed to the high value of the gyromagnetic ratio (g value) associated with europium.
