  • Patent number: 7431341
Abstract: A pipe liner connector suitable for connecting pipe sections that comprise a liner is described. The pipe liner connector comprise vents and/or venting grooves which act to balance the pressure between the micro-annulus, formed between the liner and the pipe sections, and the pipe bore formed when the pipe sections are connected together. The inclusion of these features helps prevent the collapse or the uncontrolled distortion of the pipe liner connector during pressure cycles in operating pipelines.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 25, 2003
Date of Patent: October 7, 2008
    Assignee: Boreas Consultants Limited
    Inventor: Stuart McIntyre
  • Patent number: 7080667
Abstract: The present invention relates to apparatus for use in venting pipelines that have a plastic lining such as these used for transporting hydrocarbon fluids. A pipeline assembly comprises a pipeline (2), a corrosion resistance liner (3), and a micro-annulus (4) located between said pipeline and liner. The pipeline assembly also comprises a venting means (5) adapted for fitment in or through the corrosion resistance liner (3), wherein the venting means (5) allows gas to flow from the micro-annulus into the center of the pipeline assembly but not in the opposing direction.

  • Publication number: 20060120809
Abstract: Method and apparatus for installing, maintaining and decommissioning wind turbines, both onshore and offshore, comprises a crane having extendable legs that allow it to climb a tower that it is erecting in sections by engaging the tower by friction or mechanical interference. The crane may carry the wind turbine nacelle on its upper members during construction of the tower and may be fitted with a crane for handling tower sections, or it may carry an “A” crane for lifting the nacelle and its components once the tower is complete or for constructing heavy maintenance. The crane may be fitted with various lifting and handling means to facilitate maintenance or the installation, maintenance or removal or airfoil rotor blades.
