Patent number: 12015811Abstract: The Transmission Method discloses how a service provider who is licensed to transmit a copyrighted video/audio, pre-selects segments, or parts, of a copyrighted video/audio, based on their running time, or numerical order of film frames, in a video/audio, and transmits only the pre-selected segments, thereby shortening a copyrighted video/audio without infringing on copyright.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2022Date of Patent: June 18, 2024Inventor: Derek Stuart Morton

Publication number: 20090050333Abstract: A control system for a surface controlled sub-surface safety valve has first and second control lines. The first control line communicates control fluid to the sub-surface safety valve and preferably has a sump and in-line filters. Hydraulic pressure applied to the safety valve with this first control line can open the safety valve. The second control line also communicates control fluid to the sub-surface safety valve and preferably has a sump. A connecting valve is connected between the first and second control lines. The connecting valve allows control fluid to communicate from the first control line to the safety valve but prevents fluid communication from the second control line to the first control line. To open the valve, the second control line is exhausted to a reservoir. The dual control lines provide redundant control of the safety valve and can also be cycled to remove debris from the system.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2007Publication date: February 26, 2009Applicant: Weatherford/Lamb, Inc.Inventors: Roddie Robert Smith, Richard Coleman Jones, Stuart Morton Dennistoun

Patent number: 7288063Abstract: There is disclosed a surgical instrument for inserting material into the body. The surgical instrument generally includes an outer tubular member. The instrument has a longitudinal section and an arcuate section having at least two different radii of curvature. An inner member is movably positioned within the outer tubular member and includes structure for engaging a length of material to draw the material through the outer tubular member and into the body. Methods of using the surgical instrument to position a length of tape beneath the urethra to form a support are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2006Date of Patent: October 30, 2007Assignee: Sherwood Services AGInventors: Peter Petros, Stuart Morton

Publication number: 20050235136Abstract: Methods and systems to provide monitoring of operation of threads of a multi-threaded process. In one aspect a reusable thread monitor class is provided that permits each thread desiring monitoring to register with a monitor supervisor. The monitor supervisor may be instantiated in a thread of the process and monitors the operable/inoperable status of the registered threads. The monitor supervisor may be instantiate in any thread of the multi-threaded process or in a specific thread spawned specifically for the monitor supervisor. In a preferred, best presently know mode of practicing the invention, the monitor supervisor is instantiated in the main thread of the process. Monitoring may include “IsAlive” thread status checks, HeartBeat signaling status checks, and/or Polling status check capabilities.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 16, 2004Publication date: October 20, 2005Applicant: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Laurene Barsotti, Ying Dai, Stuart Morton, Sameer Prabhu

Patent number: 6425413Abstract: A valve (120) for controlling fluid flow therethrough in downhole applications is disclosed. The valve (120) comprises a valve housing having a valve closure mechanism (122) and a valve seat (124) disposed therein. The valve closure mechanism (122) has sealing surface (128) and a secondary load bearing surface (142). The valve seat (124) has a valve seat sealing surface (126) that mates with the sealing surface (128) of the valve closure mechanism (122). The secondary load bearing surface (142) of the valve closure mechanism (122) mates with a valve secondary load bearing surface (134) which may be supported by the valve seat (124).Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2001Date of Patent: July 30, 2002Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Glenn Ray Davis, Stuart Morton Dennistoun
