  • Patent number: 6807262
Abstract: A switch based feature that allows subscribers to adjust their incoming or outgoing audio signal strength. The value of the transmit or receive pad values on the subscriber line card are adjusted to control the strength of the audio signal transmitted to, or received from, the network. The subscriber controls the feature by sending a hook flash to the switch, entering the DTMF keypad feature code and transmit or receive volume parameters, and then returning to the call.

  • Patent number: 6788777
Abstract: An enhancement to AIN fault handling that allows SSP triggers to access an alternative treatment application when fault handling is invoked. If an alternative treatment application is referenced in the BCM fault handling attribute, then the application is called when AIN fault handling is invoked. If the alternative treatment application is not successful in completing the service function, then one of the traditional fault handling options is applied, (i.e., routing to a specific directory number, voice announcement then terminate call, continue, or final treatment). The present invention allows a last attempt at completing the service function by the alternative treatment application after fault handling is called, but before default handling or final treatment is invoked.

Abstract: A coupling system for selectively connecting an associated fluid inlet (I) with an associated fluid outlet includes an essentially hollow plug (90) having a shape corresponding to one of a plurality of plug types (90A, 90B, 90C) and that is in fluid communication with the associated fluid outlet. A coupler (1) is in fluid communication with the associated fluid inlet (I). The coupler (1) includes a receiving region (R) adapted for selective connection with a plug (90) having a shape corresponding to one of the plurality of plug types (90A, 90B, 90C). The coupler also has a lock (L) that selectively locks the plug (90) into the receiving region (R). • Publication number: 20030058851
Abstract: In a packet network, a feature wherein each node in the call path grants immediate admission to the network at a possibly reduced or even zero initial bandwidth. • Patent number: 6487287
Abstract: A system in which centralized announcement platforms are connected to host switches over dedicated trunks, and remote switches needing announcement services send a signaling message to a host switch requesting a connection to the announcement platform. A connection is then established between the host switch and the remote switch over a regular trunk, and the full connection is completed over a dedicated circuit between the host switch and the announcement platform. Announcement message ID and other information required by the announcement platform is coded in the available parameter fields of a signaling message. Less total circuits are required and redundancy is provided.

  • Patent number: 6147503
Abstract: A method for simultaneously and independently measuring moisture content and bulk density of particulate materials using radio-frequency measurements allowing for on-line, real-time monitoring and control. Moisture and density are determined by measurements of complex permittivities. This method is based on the use of the dielectric properties of the materials for density and water content determination.

  • Patent number: 6066899
Abstract: A battery drain limitation circuit for use in engine powered vehicles and equipment which rely upon a battery to start the engine and also to operate accessories. When the engine is not running, the circuit disconnects the battery from all loads when battery charge, as measured by either one of two complementary means responsive to high and low drain rates, respectively, falls to a level below which the battery charge may not be sufficient to start the engine. High drain rates exaggerate battery voltage reduction below no load voltage levels, and are detected by a low cutoff voltage level after which the battery voltage recovers to reflect sufficient charge to start the engine. Battery dissipation from low drain rates is prevented by a long timing delay following detection of a high cutoff voltage level. The circuit is rendered inoperable if the engine is running, by means of a microphone which detects engine noise. The device is simple to install at the battery.

  • Patent number: 5929838
Abstract: A digital acquisition system maximizes the number of points captured when a user issues a stop command, while maximizing the update rate during continuous operation. In essence, the present invention utilizes an optimum update rate (i.e., set so as to capture a minimum number of points), while operating in a continuous fashion. Upon receiving a stop command for the user, the present invention sets up to take a deep memory acquisition at a slower update rate (i.e., set so as to capture a maximum number of points). If a trigger is received within a predetermined period of time after the stop command is received, then a deep memory acquisition is taken, and the captured points are displayed to the user for viewing. If a trigger is not received within the predetermined period of time after the stop command is received, then the last acquisition taken at the optimum update rate remains displayed for viewing by the user.

  • Patent number: 5554935
Abstract: A method for nondestructively determining the mass of arbitrarily shaped dielectric objects is disclosed. The object is inserted into a microwave resonant cavity coupled to a microwave radiation source and a measuring circuit. Measurements of shift of resonant frequency and change in the transmission coefficient due to the presence of the object in the cavity are made. The mass is determined from using this information. The process is particularly useful for determining the mass of articles that are too hot or too cold or too fragile to handle and for articles that are irregular or variable in shape.

  • Patent number: 5218309
Abstract: A method for the nondestructive measurement of the moisture content of single grain kernels, seeds, nuts, or fruits which is independent of their weight, thickness, and projected area. At least two independent parameters of complex electrical impedance or admittance of a single grain kernel, seed, nut, or fruit are measured at two different frequencies and the moisture content is calculated therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5123944
Abstract: To facilitate removal and insertion of filter units from a filter frame structure without need to gain access to the dust side of the filter assembly there is provided a filter frame structure having a support plate formed with openings through which filter units may pass and support bars underneath the support plate to support each filter unit in the region of a respective opening. A removable seal plate is arranged therewith and clamp means is provided for lifting the filter units from the support bars to bring them into sealing engagement with the underside of the seal plate.

  • Patent number: 5039947
Abstract: A process for nondestructively determining the moisture content of single articles such as single grain kernels, seeds, nuts, fruits, or other biological or agricultural products. The article is inserted into a microwave resonant cavity coupled to a microwave radiation source and a measuring circuit. Measurements of the energy dissipated in the sample and the shift in frequency (or wavelength) due to the presence of the article in the cavity are made at each of two orientations differing by about 90 degrees with respect to the maximum electric field vector. The moisture content is subsequently determined from the ratio of the averaged values of the energy dissipated to the shift in frequency. The process is particularly useful for determining the moisture content of articles of irregular or variable shape.
