  • Patent number: 11904527
Abstract: Feedstocks are provided for use in the additive manufacturing of three-dimensional objects via extrusion-based techniques, such as Fused Filament Fabrication (“FFF”) or Fused Deposition Modeling (“FDM”). Generally, the feedstocks may be in the form of substantially continuous filaments and/or in the form of rods of specified length, with diameters in excess of 3.5 mm.

  • Publication number: 20220267521
Abstract: The present invention is generally concerned with the use of additives in the form of nanoclays and/or organoclays as processing and property enhancers in melt-spinning formulations based on particular types of co-polyamides, which are used in the melt-spinning of fibers. The melt-spinning formulations of the present invention may comprise, consist essentially of, or consist of: (i) at least one co-polyamide and (ii) at least one nanoclay and/or organoclay.

  • Publication number: 20210348308
Abstract: A process is provided for the manufacture of an effect yarn, such as heathered helix yarns, for use in carpets, floorcoverings, and textile articles. The effect yarns contain patterned alternating sections of twisted multiple singles yarns and sections of entangled multiple singles yarns. More particularly, these effect yarns may comprise a plurality of S-direction twist sections, a plurality of Z-direction twist sections, and a plurality of non-twisted entangled sections interspersed between the S-direction twist sections and the Z-direction twist sections.

  • Publication number: 20210324548
Abstract: Processes are provided for the manufacture of color effect face yarns for use in tufted goods. These color effect yarns may exhibit unique color effects and contain a lower overall denier, thereby allowing the production of tufted goods with a greater than normal tuft density per unit area. Consequently, this can result in finer color effects and/or sharper definition of color effects in the tufted goods and expands the design possibilities for such products.

  • Publication number: 20210187825
Abstract: A substantially continuous, entwined filamentary feedstock for additive manufacturing processes and fused filament fabrication (“FFF”) equipment is provided. Generally, the entwined filamentary feedstocks may contain a plurality of filaments and comprise a diameter suited for use in FFF and three-dimensional printers. Typically, the entwined feedstocks may comprise at least one filament forming a core and one or more filaments entwined around this core.

  • Publication number: 20210047756
Abstract: The present application is generally concerned with polyester-based fibers, which exhibit enhanced resistance to breakage and attritional wear. More particularly, the inventive fibers may be especially aimed at textile applications, wherein the inventive fibers may reduce the propensity of the textile materials to produce microplastic and nanoplastic particles during use and during laundering or other cleaning operations, which are a known pollution hazard in the natural environment.

  • Publication number: 20190147843
Abstract: The present invention is generally concerned with the use of a sheet lamination method to produce sheet-form materials with controlled cellular architecture, which may be used as vibration damping and/or sound attenuation materials. The materials described herein can exhibit superior vibration damping and/or sound attenuation properties compared to existing materials available in the industry. The method for the present invention involves the successive lamination of a series of films of polymer or composite material in which a plurality of apertures has been created. In such embodiments, the apertures can be of varying sizes in successive films and be positioned in such a manner that a plurality of three-dimensional cells are created in the final sheet-form material.

  • Patent number: 6284367
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a nonwoven water blocking tape for use in cable manufacture, which process comprises the steps of: (i) forming a coating of an aqueous solution of a water soluble polymer containing anionic groups and a multivalent ionic crosslinking agent on at least one surface of a nonwoven substrate material; and (ii) drying and/or curing the coating in order to form a partially crosslinked water swellable polymer coating on the at least one surface of the nonwoven substrate material. Water blocking tapes are also provided which comprise a nonwoven substrate material having a coating on at least one surface thereof of a water soluble polymer containing anionic groups which is partially crosslinked with a multivalent ionic crosslinking agent.
