  • Publication number: 20050289236
Abstract: For members of a party visiting a space with which media objects are associated, the shared experience can be enhanced by the sharing of such objects by the group members for presentation on devices for example carried by the group members. Where the media object is a streamed media object, the experience can be further enhanced by coordinating the consumption of the object by the group members. To this end, a server streaming the media object to a first device is arranged to respond to a request for coordinated consumption by establishing streaming of the object to a second device starting from a position in the media object that is dependent on progress of the streaming/presentation of the object to/at the first device.

  • Publication number: 20050059383
Abstract: A data item 11 is cyclically broadcast from a wireless transceiver 1 as a number of individual data segments 13. Receipt of all of the individual data segments 13 by a mobile device 9 is required to successfully receive the entirety of the data item 11. The time required to transmit all of the data segments 13 is increased by transmitting each data segment 13 at a minimum time interval from one another, or alternatively or additionally varying the rate of data transmission. A mobile device user is therefore required to remain within the locality of the wireless transceiver 1 for a minimum period of time.
