  • Patent number: 6053404
Abstract: An automatic signaling device to be used in conjunction with a standard rural mailbox to indicate that the door has been opened when a mail carrier puts mail in the mailbox. The primary components of the device comprise a signal flag, including a helical spring and a signal plate for attachment to the top end of the spring, a mounting bracket for mounting the helical spring to the door of the mailbox, and a retaining bracket attached to the mailbox top. When in a set, or cocked, position, the spring is bent and the retaining bracket retains the signal plate in a horizontal position over the top of the mailbox. Upon opening the mailbox door to deposit mail, the spring unbends thus permitting the signal plate to be held in a vertical position above the mailbox top when the door is re-shut.

  • Patent number: 5212897
Abstract: A trenching attachment for use on a toothed earth moving bucket which converts conventional backhoe or similar earth moving machines into devices capable of excavating a continuous trench. The attachment may be mounted on any toothed earth moving bucket, and includes an anchoring and connecting arrangement which transfers a substantial portion of the frictional drag load generated during trench excavation operations from the attachment to the base of a backhoe's articulated boom. Furthermore, during trenching operations, the operator may control the depth of the V-shaped excavation with the backhoe or similar earth moving machine's hydraulic controls as such is driven forward, creating graded trenches for the installation of subsurface conduits, cables and the like.

  • Patent number: 4704811
Abstract: A trenching attachment for removable attachment to the bucket of a backhoe is disclosed which converts the backhoe from a stationary digging machine into a continuous trenching machine creating a V-shaped trench suitable for installation of pipes or conduits or the creation of fire breaks. With the attachment installed on the backhoe bucket the operator may control the depth of cut with the backhoe controls as the backhoe is moved forward, creating graded trenches for the installation of drainage or sewer lines.
