  • Patent number: 5148924
Abstract: A sheet material handling frame comprises a plurality of base portions (18) for supporting material, such as sheet glass. A stanchion (16) extends from each base portion (18). The stanchions (16) are held in a spaced relationship by means of cross-bars (12, 14). Each stanchion (16) is formed with a slot in which a strap guide (24) is slideably movable. A securing strap passes inside the stanchion (16) through the hollow base (18) around the sheet material and over the strap guide (24). Thus, the strap guide is movable to accommodate different heights of material loaded on the frame. The frames are securable back-to-back to form a structure which is capable of carrying sheets of different sizes. When the sheet material is being loaded, the strap guide (24) is pivoted about a pair of retaining lugs into the slot so that it is out of the way. The strap guide (24) is provided with a hook-like recess (27) which is used to engage a retaining pin inside the slot when it is not in use.

  • Patent number: 4441753
Abstract: An airfoil member for a land vehicle in particular for fixing to the roof of a cab of a tractor-trailer rig, in which the airfoil member is provided to reduce drag when positioned substantially horizontally for the case where either there is no trailer unit or the height of the trailer unit is lower than that of the cab of the tractor unit. The airfoil member is also movable between a position in which it acts as an air deflector and a position in which it acts as an airfoil. The airfoil member has a pair of side portions and a central portion having a much thinner cross-section in order to reduce its weight. Its height above the roof of the cab can also be adjusted so that it can be set to the best suited position either as an air deflector or an airfoil in order to reduce drag to a minimum.

  • Patent number: 4402548
Abstract: A safety seat for a vehicle of the type comprising a shell 10 forming a seat portion 12 a back portion 14 and two side portions 16 and 18, which are covered by a fabric seat cover 50, is made adjustable in width by providing a plurality of filler strips 54, 56 which fit between the cover 50 and the side portions 16 and 18 of the shell so as to adjust the interior width of the seat. Lateral head restraint pads 58 and 60 may also be provided. The seat is particularly suitable for use by a growing physically handicapped child who requires lateral support when seated in a motor vehicle at an age when his contemporaries are capable of sitting in a vehicle without such support.
