    Abstract: A turning tool includes an indexable turning insert with a polygonal basic shape. The turning insert includes opposite top and bottom sides, main clearance surfaces that extend between the sides and adjacent to main cutting edges, and a secondary cutting edge that is formed between each pair of main cutting edges and connects to a secondary clearance surface. Pairs of the main cutting edges approach each other in corners defining corner angles of at least 55° and at most 80°. Each of the main and secondary clearance surfaces define respective clearance angles with respect to an imaginary reference plane perpendicular to the top side, and the clearance angle of the secondary clearance surface is at least 1° greater than the clearance angle of the main clearance surface. In such a way, internal turning is provided for exceptionally small holes having diameters in the range of 12 to 6 millimeters.

    Abstract: An indexable cutting insert for metal machining, in particular turning, is formed with banana- or C-shaped protrusions (11) adjacent to each operative cutting corner. The concave side of the protrusion faces in a direction towards the cutting corner. In comparison with corresponding inserts without such a protrusion a better chip control is achieved. Thus, the chip flow is led away from the machined surface both at small and large cutting depths and the chips are broken into suitable lengths.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a thread cutting insert (10) for use with an indexable tool. The insert (10) is a triangular, flat wafer of cutting material comprising three countersunk cutting corners (11), each having a chamfered part (12) provided with a cutting tip (13). The upper side of the cutting tip (13) is provided with a recess (22) which gives the insert (10) a positive cutting geometry. A flat upstanding area (23) is arranged radially inside the cutting tip (13) to finally shape the chip after it has been preformed at the recess (22).
