  • Patent number: 6194520
Abstract: A class of relatively high molecular weight, high density ethylene polymer blends is disclosed capable of being blow molded with excellent processability into articles, e.g., bottles, of superior mechanical and other properties, such blends having a density of at least about 0.930 g/cc, a flow index (I21) of at least about 2 g/10 min., a melt flow ratio (MFR) of at least about 60, and a polydispersity index of at least about 8, the polymers of said blend consisting essentially of at least about 0.3 weight fraction of a relatively high molecular weight (HMW) component having a density of at least about 0.900 g/cc, a flow index or high load melt index (I21) of at least about 0.2 g/10 min., and a flow ratio (FR) at least about 10, and a relatively low molecular weight (LMW) component having a density of at least about 0.930 g/cc and a melt index (I2) no greater than about 1000 g/10 min.

  • Patent number: 5883203
Abstract: In gas phase polymerizations and copolymerizations of ethylene, reagents or cofeeds control the molecular weight, expressed as MI (wherein MI is measured according to ASTM D-1238 Condition E), of the resin product. Use of isopentane and electron donating compounds decrease MI; whereas, electron withdrawing compounds increase MI.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 10, 1997
Date of Patent: March 16, 1999
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Coporation

  • Patent number: 5608019
Abstract: In gas phase polymerizations and copolymerizations of ethylene, temperature controls the molecular weight, expressed as MI (wherein MI is measured according to ASTM D-1238 Condition E), of the resin product. Increase in polymerization temperature produces decrease in MI; whereas, decrease in polymerization temperature produces increase in MI.

  • Patent number: 5111854
Abstract: A system for removing particulate material from a drum wherein the drum lid is replaced by a lid which is specially designed for this service. This new lid has at least a portion which is transparent so the operator can see into the drum and determine when and if it is empty. It also has a resilient portion which includes radial slits emanating from a predetermined point to produce an iris through which a wand can be inserted. The wand is operatively connected to a vacuum system so that the operator can insert the wand into the drum through the iris, and have the iris conform to the wand sufficiently that the vacuum being pulled through the wand sucks the particles out of the drum.

  • Patent number: 4705623
Abstract: An apparatus and method for separating particulate solid from a solid mixture based on the size of the particles which includes feeding a slurry of the particulate solid mixture into an upper vessel portion adapted to be filled with liquid such as the slurried particulate. The apparatus also includes a lower vessel portion having a cross-sectional area which is less than the cross-sectional area of the upper vessel portion and is sealingly connected for fluid communication with the upper vessel portion by an outwardly diverging wall located at the top of the lower vessel portion. The upper vessel portion has a free-settling region for separating particulate solids. The particulate containing slurry is met with an upwardly directed stream of fluidization fluid, e.g., water, in the lower vessel portion wherein a first fraction-containing solid particulate which has descended through the fluidization stream is directed from the apparatus by a means therefor.

  • Patent number: 4556545
Abstract: There is disclosed an improved process of beneficiating phosphate-containing ores. The process comprises stabilizing a hydrocarbon oil, normally used in a conditioning step to improve separation of the ore from the solid contaminants in a flotation step, upstream of the conditioning step. The oil is stabilized by conducting it to a pre-stabilization step wherein it is mixed with at least one fatty acid or saponified fatty acid and water to form a stable, homogeneous emulsion. The emulsion is then transferred to the conditioning step wherein it is mixed with the phosphate-containing ore.
