  • Patent number: 11494335
Abstract: Embodiments of method and system are directed to a best effort method to reconstruct the corrupt files from available nodes or tiers and heal or repair the corrupt files. The method looks for the existence of fingerprints of the lost segments in available tiers on the nodes or across nodes within a cluster. The method discovers the copies of these missing segments, creates an Lp tree referring these discovered segments and creates a virtual file in the namespace. The file is then moved to the destination tier where the corruption exists, thus healing the corruption.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 25, 2019
Date of Patent: November 8, 2022
Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLC
Inventors: Ramprasad Chinthekindi, Shyam Burkule, Kalidas Balakrishnan, Kalyan C Gunda, Subrahmanyam Josyula

  • Patent number: 10216748
Abstract: Techniques to perform segment index lookups are disclosed. In various embodiments, for each of one or more segment index entries included in a first on disk segment index a corresponding set of values is stored in a bloom filter. The bloom filter is used to determine prior to performing an on disk segment lookup of the segment index with respect to a given segment whether each location in the bloom filter that is associated with the given segment has been set to said corresponding set of values. An on disk lookup is performed in parallel of a second on disk segment index that is not included in said subset of on disk segment indexes each of which has associated therewith a corresponding bloom filter.

  • Patent number: 8762337
Abstract: Systems and methods for information storage replication are presented. In one embodiment a replication method includes performing an intelligent synchronization process of selected portions of a primary image and intelligent verification of the accuracy of the replication. The intelligent synchronization process can include forwarding information if the information is in use (e.g., has been altered, written to, etc.) and the intelligent verification can be performed on the information in use.

  • Patent number: 8438347
Abstract: Techniques for proactive synchronization of backups on replication targets are disclosed. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for proactive synchronization of a backup on a replication target comprising reading a stored replication request to obtain replication data address information, sending the replication data address information to a replication target, receiving the replication data address information at the replication target, and copying data associated with the received replication data address information to a backup.
