Abstract: An Internet telephony device is provided, which comprises a voice processing unit capable of processing voice signals into electrical signals and vice versa, and a microprocessor comprising an embedded client application for communicating said electrical signals to an Internet telephony server over a network. The Internet telephony device further comprises at least one motion detector adapted to generate motion signals based on the detection of motion in the vicinity of the Internet telephony device. The motion detector is coupled to the microprocessor to determine user status of the Internet telephony device based on the motion signals.
