  • Patent number: 7546364
Abstract: Consistent updates are made automatically over a wide-area IP network, concurrently with read-only access to the remote copies. A replication control protocol (RCP) is layered over TCP/IP providing the capability for a remote site to replicate and rebroadcast blocks of the remote copy data to specified groups of destinations, as configured in a routing table. A volume multicast layer over RCP provides for multicasting to specified volume extents of the blocks. The blocks are copied at the logical level, so that it does not matter what physical structure is used for storing the remote copies. Save volumes buffer the remote copy data transmitted between the primary or secondary file system volume and the IP network, in order to ensure independence between the replication process, the IP transport method, and the primary file system being replicated.

  • Patent number: 7509390
Abstract: Mechanisms and techniques provide a system that provides stream data to a client by monitoring operation of a stream control protocol such as RTSP associated with stream data transmitted between a client and a first stream server. The system detects a stream change event related to transmission of the stream data between the client and the first stream server and identifies a relative position within the stream data based on the operation of the stream control protocol. The system then establishes transmission of the stream data between the client and a second stream server starting at the relative position in the stream data. The system provides for mid-stream failover for the transmission of stream data such as real-time data with minimal perceptible loss of stream data by the client.

  • Patent number: 7096272
Abstract: Mechanisms and techniques provide a system that can transmit stream data in a computer network. The system can identify at least two packets of stream data that are destined to a common location in a computer network and can form a pooled packet of stream data using the packets of stream data. The system can then transmit the pooled packet to the common location in the computer network. In another configuration, the system can receive a pooled packet of stream data containing a representation of at least two packets of stream data and detect if the pooled packet of stream data contains at least one packet of stream data. If the packet of stream data is to be extracted from the pooled packet, the system can extract the packet of stream data and can transmit the extracted packet of stream data to a destination associated with the packet.
