Patent number: 11330495Abstract: A Next Generation network device receives, from a user equipment device (UE), a Service Request for establishing a Multimedia Priority Services (MPS) session. The Next Generation network device determines whether the Service Request includes a MPS fallback request to request network fallback from a Next Generation network to a Fourth Generation (4G) network for the MPS session. The device causes, based on the Service Request including the MPS fallback request, establishment of the MPS session from the UE device via the 4G network by performing one of: a handover procedure from the Next Generation network to the 4G network, or a Radio Resource Control (RRC) redirection procedure from the Next Generation network to the 4G network.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2020Date of Patent: May 10, 2022Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Deepa Jagannatha, Timothy M. Publication number: 20220141713Abstract: Systems and methods described herein use group segmentation of applications (referred to herein as “slicing classes”), based on common service requirements, to allow carriers to assign UE traffic to network slices. A UE stores slicing class definitions for use with UE Route Selection Policies (URSP). Each of the slicing class definitions include network quality of service (QoS) characteristics that are applicable to network traffic for multiple software applications. The UE maps the software applications to corresponding slicing class identifiers associated with the slicing class definitions. The UE also stores URSP rules for associating a slicing class identifier with a network slice identifier. A UE operating system sends, to a modem, one of the slicing class identifiers for an application that is requesting attachment to a wireless network. The modem sends a registration request with a selected network slice identifier based on the received slicing class identifier and the URSP rules.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2020Publication date: May 5, 2022Inventors: Deepa Jagannatha, Bharadwaj Vemuri, Kartik P. Patent number: 11310151Abstract: Systems and methods manage lookups for network repository functions (NRFs). A network device, such as a NRF, receives a discovery request for a network function instance in a wireless core network. The discovery request includes a hop limit value. The network device determines if a result for the discovery request is available and determines if the hop limit value is greater than a stop value, when the result for the discovery request is not available. The network device forwards the discovery request to another network device when the result for the discovery request is not available and when the hop limit value is greater than the stop value. The network device sends a terminal response to the discovery request when the hop limit value is not greater than the stop value.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2019Date of Patent: April 19, 2022Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: David Taft, Sudhakar Reddy Patil, Violeta Cakulev, Hossein M. Patent number: 11297525Abstract: An example method can include receiving information identifying a quality of service (QoS) flow for a communication session involving a user equipment (UE). The information can include a QoS profile and a QoS flow identifier (QFI). The method can include identifying, from a QoS profile, a QoS configuration identifier associated with the QoS flow and selecting a data radio bearer (DRB) for the communications associated with the QoS flow. Publication number: 20220086656Abstract: Systems and methods provide reliable voice connections dual-connectivity environments, given limitations of available spectrum. A system includes a first wireless station and a second wireless station. The first wireless station provides a shared spectrum of a first frequency band, the shared spectrum including a first spectrum for a first cellular wireless standard and a second spectrum for a second cellular wireless standard. The second wireless station is at least partially within a coverage area of the first wireless station and provides a third spectrum for the second cellular wireless standard. The third spectrum is a millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum. The first wireless station broadcasts a parameter barring an end device in an idle mode from camping on the second spectrum. The first wireless station or the second wireless station triggers the end device to swap to the second spectrum when a paging request for a voice call is received.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2021Publication date: March 17, 2022Inventors: Lily Zhu, Ratul Kumar Guha, Jignesh S.
