  • Patent number: 7907564
Abstract: A method includes identifying a plurality of communication channels at a wireless device and classifying each of the communication channels into one of a plurality of groups. The method also includes scanning the communication channels in the groups. The communication channels in at least one of the groups are scanned at a different frequency than the communication channels in at least one other of the groups. In addition, the method includes updating one or more of the groups based on the scans.

  • Patent number: 7783284
Abstract: A method for site administration includes receiving a user's instruction to invoke a tool at a wireless handset. The method also includes invoking execution of the tool at the wireless handset. The tool is operable to identify at least one characteristic of at least one access point in a communication system and to display the at least one characteristic associated with the at least one access point to the user at the handset.

  • Patent number: 7227853
Abstract: A method is provided that includes receiving a request from a communication device to establish a communication session with a mobile station, the mobile station being operable to roam between a private and a public network. The mobile station is signaled via a cellular data network that a call is being initiated for the mobile station. Signaling information may be exchanged with a voice gateway such that one or more voice circuits are established. A signaling pathway may be established between an Internet protocol private branch exchange (IP PBX) and the mobile station via the cellular data network. The establishment of the signaling pathway is substantially concurrent with the establishment of one or more of the voice circuits. One or more features associated with a private network are delivered to the mobile station during the communication session as an end user moves between the public and private networks.

Inventors: Ramanathan T. Jagadeesan, Bich T. Nguyen, Kamaldip Toor, Sudhakar S. Valluru, Christopher E. Pearce
  • Patent number: 7076251
Abstract: A method is provided that includes receiving a request from a communication device to establish a communication session with a mobile station. The request is responded to by signaling the mobile station via a cellular data network that a call is being initiated for the mobile station. Signaling information may be exchanged with a voice gateway such that one or more voice circuits are established to accommodate voice data that may propagate between the communication device and the mobile station. A signaling pathway may be established between an Internet protocol private branch exchange (IP PBX) and the mobile station via the cellular data network. The establishment of the signaling pathway is substantially concurrent with the establishment of one or more of the voice circuits such that one or more features associated with a private network are delivered to the mobile station during the communication session.

  • Patent number: 6947410
Abstract: A communications device includes a backplane, backplane cards, and a backplane switch. Each backplane card is coupled to the backplane and assigned an industry standard-based network address. The backplane switch, also coupled to the backplane, receives a first data packet with a first network address assigned to a backplane card and communicates the first data packet to the backplane card using the backplane.
