  • Publication number: 20240357498
Abstract: This disclosure describes a power save mechanism for devices in a neighbor awareness networking (NAN) network. In some aspects, a NAN device is able to enter into a power save mode during a window agreed to between the NAN device and a NAN peer device. A NAN device transmits, to a NAN peer device, an indication that the wireless communication device is to enter a power save mode. For example, the NAN device may transmit a MAC packet with a more data (MD) bit set to 0. The NAN peer device may indicate that the NAN device is allowed to enter the power save mode by transmitting a MAC packet with the MD bit set to 0, or the NAN peer device may indicate that the wireless communication device is not to enter the power save mode by transmitting a MAC packet with the MD bit set to 1.

  • Publication number: 20240224048
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Techniques described herein provide for a termination of a neighbor awareness networking (NAN) pairing session between a first NAN device and a second NAN device. A first NAN device that has initiated a pairing session with a second NAN device may transmit a deauthentication frame to the other NAN device to terminate the pairing session and remove the authentication key(s). The first NAN device and second NAN device terminate the pairing session and remove the authentication key(s). The deauthentication frame may include a header that indicates the addresses for the first and second NAN devices. In some cases, the first NAN device may establish NAN communications with multiple peer devices (e.g., in a NAN cluster). The first NAN device may multicast the deauthentication frame to the multiple devices. The multicast deauthentication frame may include an identifier for the NAN cluster.

  • Publication number: 20240214811
Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for wireless communications. For example, a network device can receive an unprotected management frame indicative of a disconnection of the network device. The unprotected management frame includes an address indicative of an identified wireless access point (AP) associated with the disconnection. The network device can determine a transmitter signature associated with the unprotected management frame. The network device can determine a difference between the transmitter signature and a corresponding transmitter signature associated with a protected data frame received from the identified wireless AP. The network device can further determine, based on the difference being greater than a threshold, the unprotected management frame is not transmitted by the identified wireless AP.

  • Publication number: 20240057062
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for reducing power consumption in neighbor awareness networking (NAN) devices. Some implementations more specifically relate to dynamically adjusting a NAN device link (NDL) schedule to reduce the idle duration of a NAN data interface (NDI). The NDL schedule identifies a number of NAN slots, per discovery window (DW) interval, during which an NDL is available for data communications between NAN devices. In some aspects, a NAN device may measure congestion on the wireless channel during each NAN slot within a DW interval and may dynamically update the NDL schedule based on the measured congestion. In some other aspects, a NAN device may measure throughput on the NDL during each NAN slot within a DW interval and may dynamically update the NDL schedule based on the measured throughput.

  • Publication number: 20220338141
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices, and systems for minimizing ranging errors resulting from clock drift and/or frequency offsets between wireless communication devices such as a responder device and an initiator device. In various implementations, the responder device receives a request for a ranging operation from the initiator device. The responder device determines whether its temperature exceeds a threshold. When the responder device's temperature exceeds the threshold, the responder device determines a time period after which the responder device's temperature is expected to decrease below the threshold. The responder device transmits a response frame indicating the responder device's temperature and the determined time period. In some instances, the determination that the responder device's temperature exceeds the threshold indicates that ranging errors resulting from clock drift and/or frequency offsets between the responder device and the initiator device are greater than an amount.

  • Publication number: 20200383045
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Wireless stations (STAs) may be within the coverage areas of several of access points (APs). In such cases, STAs may detect some set of candidate APs for possible connection, and the STAs may perform some selection procedure to select an AP for connection. For example, a STA may score or rank available APs (e.g., APs within the set of candidate APs), and the STA may sort the candidate APs into different bins (e.g., categories) based on their respective scores (e.g., based on each AP's candidate score). Each bin may thus include one or more APs associated with some scoring range. A STA may then randomly (e.g., or pseudo-randomly) select an AP from the bin associated with a highest range of candidate scores, and the STA may connect to the selected AP.

  • Patent number: 10028205
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a method and an apparatus for techniques used for wireless local area network (WLAN) scanning in coexistence scenarios. For example, a method for is provided for WLAN scanning in which a scan of a WLAN is initiated at a wireless device configured to share an antenna for WLAN operations and Bluetooth (BT) operations while a voice call is in progress over the WLAN and packets from the voice call are routed between the wireless device and a BT device.
