  • Publication number: 20100043311
Abstract: A fascia vent for a roof structure includes a fascia board for attachment along the lower ends of roof rafters that support a roof deck above an attic space. The fascia vent has an exposed outside face and an inside face at least partly exposed to the attic space. A plurality of slots are formed along the inside face of the fascia board with a lower end of the slots communicating with ambience along the bottom edge of the fascia board and an upper end of the slots communicating with the attic space. In use, hot air vented from the attic is replaced by fresh air that flows through the lower ends of the slots and into the attic space.

  • Patent number: 7597779
Abstract: A shake mechanism is provided for shaking a breast roll at the wet end of a conventional glass mat machine. A method of producing a glass fiber mat is provided, the method involving combining glass fibers with a dispersant medium to form an aqueous slurry, and shaking the aqueous slurry to redistribute fibers from areas of high concentration to areas of lower concentration. A glass fiber mat production line is also provided, the production line comprising a slurry formation station for combining glass fibers with a dispersant medium to form an aqueous slurry, and a hydroformer for shaking the slurry to redistribute glass fibers from areas of high concentration to areas of lower concentration.

  • Publication number: 20080113612
Abstract: An impeller exhaust ridge vent is provided for covering a ridge slot formed along the ridge of a roof. The ridge vent has an elongated laterally flexible center panel with edge portions along which vents are formed. Standoffs can depend from the bottom of the center panel for supporting the center panel a predetermined distance above the roof deck so that attic air can vent through the ridge slot, beneath the center panel, and exit through the vents. A base panel can be provided to cover the roof deck and form a smooth substantially sealed air duct for passage of the air. Upstanding wind baffles are disposed outboard of and spaced from the vents. One or more tangential impellers is rotatably mounted in the pace between the vents and wind baffles and can be free spinning or driven by an electric motor. Rotation of the tangential impellers creates a cross-flow fan effect that draws air forcibly from beneath the center panel and exhausts it to ambience. The attic space is thereby actively ventilated.

  • Publication number: 20070213003
Abstract: There is provided a ridge ventilation system that comprises a ridge slot disposed longitudinally in a ridge of a roof and a fan disposed in the ridge slot for actively exhausting air from an attic substantially enclosed by the roof, sidewalls and ceiling into the ambient atmosphere. There is further provided a method for ventilating that comprises disposing a ridge slot longitudinally in a ridge of the roof and operating a fan disposed in the ridge slot to actively exhaust air from the attic into the ambient atmosphere. Lastly, there is provided a method for installing the ridge ventilation system that comprises constructing a ridge slot longitudinally disposed in a ridge of the roof and disposing a fan in the ridge slot to actively exhaust air from the attic into the ambient atmosphere.

  • Publication number: 20070039252
Abstract: A fungus strip that release ions when precipitation flows down on the strip that are deleterious to fungus and algae. The strip is positioned on a building material. The strip has a length, width and thickness. The ions are preferably of zinc or tin. The building material can be asphaltic roofing shingles, non-asphaltic roofing, or siding.

  • Patent number: 7082724
Abstract: This invention relates to back-to-back inverse packaging of a pair of tabbed, composite roofing shingles consisting of (a) a top sheet having a lower butt portion divided into spaced tabs and an upper undivided headlap portion carrying a horizontal band of nailing indicia on the lower portion of its exposed surface; (b) a backer strip underlying the tabs of the top sheet and filling the spaces between the tabs and (c) vertical projections of approximately similar shape and spacing as the tabs, positioned on the top horizontal margin of the backer strip which projections extend upwardly beyond said band of indicia at a distance not more than one half the width of said headlap portion and which are interposed above the spaces between the tabs.
