  • Patent number: 8673837
Abstract: A shaped solid cleaning composition, especially in bar format, which utilises the detergency properties of new materials which are more efficient, relatively inexpensive and are environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional soaps or synthetics surfactants; more particularly, a shaped solid cleaning composition which comprises a specific amount of structuring agent and a specific amount of a treated particle. The precursor of the treated particle is an asymmetric 1:1 or 2:1:1 clay particle having alternating tetrahedral and octahedral sheets terminating with a tetrahedral sheet at a first external surface plane and an octahedral sheet at a second external surface plane. Either or both of said external surfaces is attached with a fatty acid or derivative thereof.

  • Patent number: 8609601
Abstract: This invention relates to a liquid or soft-solid personal cleansing composition that utilises the detergency properties of new materials which are more efficient, more inexpensive and are an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional soaps or synthetic surfactants. It more particularly relates to a cleansing composition in liquid, gel or cream formats. The present invention provides for a personal cleansing composition comprising (i) 1 to 50% of treated clay particles; and (ii) a cosmetically acceptable base; wherein said treated clay particles are asymmetric 1:1 or 2:1:1 clay particles having alternating tetrahedral and octahedral sheets terminating with a tetrahedral sheet at one external surface plane and an octahedral sheet at another external surface plane, with a fatty acid of carbon chain length 10 to 22 attached to coordinating cation on one of said exterior surface planes.

  • Publication number: 20130289501
Abstract: The present invention is in the field skin treatment, in particular and deep pore cleansing and delivery of benefit agents deep inside the pores. The invention further relates to air-water jet devices for providing said skin treatment. Accordingly it is an object of the invention to provide for a device and process for deep pore skin cleansing, especially, a process for skin cleansing using reduced amounts of water. We have found that a skin cleaning device comprising an air-water jet, wherein the air and water are mixed outside the nozzle(s), provides improved cleansing of skin, including deep poor cleansing, with low usage of water.

  • Publication number: 20130084318
Abstract: The invention relates to photoprotective cosmetic compositions comprising microspheres and a process to prepare them. In particular, the invention is especially effective in protecting the skin against visible solar radiation while ensuring a highly acceptable even skin tone and appearance. The present inventors have developed a microsphere with hollow interior and shell of a material having a specific optical property and specific thickness and coated with another material having a different specific optical property, a combination of which gives the microsphere surprising benefits both in terms of protection from the harmful sun rays while giving a pleasing skin appearance when these microspheres are incorporated in topical compositions.

  • Publication number: 20120177712
Abstract: This invention relates to a bipolar antimicrobial particle for use in laundry detergent compositions, fabric conditioners, personal care and cosmetic compositions and a process for making the same. In view of the foregoing, it is an object of the present invention to provide a stabile antimicrobial agent immobilised on a carrier particle. It is a further objective to provide an antimicrobial particle with improved retention to the fabric so that larger amounts of antimicrobial will be available even after rinsing. Surprisingly it has been found that antimicrobial molecules tagged by surface reaction onto naturally occurring asymmetric clay surfaces, act as an antimicrobial particle with improved retention properties with improved stability.

  • Publication number: 20110021799
Abstract: This invention relates to particles with bipolar topospecific characteristics and process of preparation thereof. It is an object of the present invention is to provide a particle with bipolar topospecific characteristics with two spatially distinct regions on its surface having non-identical surface characteristics. It has been found that particles prepared by topospecific treatment of an asymmetric clay precursor with an organyl or an organoheteryl group attached to coordinating cations of one of the surface sheets, provides a particle with bipolar topospecific characteristics with two spatially distinct regions on its surface having non-identical surface characteristics.
