  • Patent number: 10820275
Abstract: The present invention relates to a data communication device and method for recording and transmitting data concerning conditions within or pertaining to a transportation container, such as a controlled environment transportation container. The communication device includes a processor, a memory, a port for receiving the data, a first power source, a communication module operatively coupled to the first power source, and a computer program stored in the memory. The program is operative, when executed on the processor, to store the received data in the memory and to cause the communication module to periodically power on, attempt for a specified time period to establish a network connection, and in the event of a successful connection, communicate data stored in the memory over the network, and to power off. The processor independently operates to switch between sleep and active modes in accordance with a system timer or receipt of data, and to determine whether the communication module is to be activated.

  • Patent number: 6114537
Abstract: Thiols are trapped, and converted to disulfide compounds, by a process of reacting them with compounds containing a 1,2,4-thiadiazole ring structure carrying a substituent at position 3 of the thiadiazole ring, and being unsubstituted at position N-2. The process is useful pharmacologically, in inhibiting certain thiol-containing enzymes such as H.sup.+ /K.sup.+ -ATPase (the proton pump), and industrially, in selective removal of thiol compounds from gas or liquid mixtures.

  • Patent number: 6093738
Abstract: Novel thiadiazole compounds are provided, which are effective as proton pumps inhibitors, useful in treating peptic ulcers by inhibition of the proton pump enzyme H.sup.+ /K.sup.+ -ATPase. The compounds are 3-substituted 1,2,4-thiadiazolo [4,5-.alpha.]benzimidazole and 3-substituted imidazo[1,2-d]-1,2,4-thiadiazoles corresponding to the general formula: ##STR1## where X and Z either represent an optionally substituted benzene ring fused to the diazole nucleus, or represent a variety of independent chemical groupings (hydrogen, lower alkyl, halo, etc.) and Y is selected from a wide range, e.g. heterocyclics and carbonyl groups.

  • Patent number: 6055577
Abstract: A method and apparatus for coordinating access to a storage system in a real time processing system is disclosed. In an apparatus including a file server, a storage system, a real time process, and a non-real time process, an apparatus and method is disclosed for coordinating accesses to the storage system, the method includes the steps of: 1) computing an available data rate from a peak bandwidth data transfer rate for the storage system, 2) receiving a first access request from the real time process, the first access request including a request for a requested data rate, 3) granting the first access request if the requested data rate is less than or equal to the available data rate, and 4) allowing the real time process to directly access the storage system at the requested data rate.
