  • Patent number: 11454760
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an optical fiber, the method including: a stripping step of partially stripping a coating layer of the optical fiber; a splicing step of fusion-splicing an exposed end surface of a glass fiber; and a recoating step of recoating a protective resin covering a stripped portion of the coating layer and an exposed portion of the glass fiber, in which the stripping step is a step of irradiating the coating layer with a laser light to strip the coating layer.

  • Patent number: 11360260
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an optical fiber includes: exposing a glass fiber by stripping a fiber coating layer at an end portion, on a splicing side, of each of a pair of optical fibers; fusion-splicing the glass fibers; and recoating a protective resin on a periphery of exposed portions of the glass fibers. The fiber coating layer includes a primary resin layer on an inner peripheral side and having a Young's modulus of 0.5 MPa or less and a secondary resin layer on an outer peripheral side and having a Young's modulus of 800 MPa or greater, the exposing includes forming a shape of a coating edge of the fiber coating layer which includes the primary resin layer and the secondary resin layer into a tapered shape which becomes narrower toward the end portion side, and the recoating includes coating the protective resin to include the coating edge.

  • Publication number: 20210096299
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an optical fiber, the method including: a stripping step of partially stripping a coating layer 12, 13 of the optical fiber 10; a splicing step of fusion-splicing an exposed end surface of a glass fiber 11; and a recoating step of recoating a protective resin 15 covering a stripped portion of the coating layer 12, 13 and an exposed portion of the glass fiber 11, in which the stripping step irradiates the coating layer 12, 13 with a laser light to strip the coating layer 12, 13. A pulse width of the laser light is 50 fs or more and 500 ps or less.

  • Patent number: 10775555
Abstract: The present embodiment relates to an optical fiber line or the like configured by connecting a single-mode optical fiber with a cladding containing fluorine and a large Aeff optical fiber by TEC connection, and a connection state between such two types of optical fibers is set such that a connection loss expressed in dB of a fundamental mode is equal to or less than 55% of an ideal butt loss expressed in dB at a wavelength of 1550 nm.
