Abstract: A system and method configured to segment computer readable clinical notes of a healthcare provider into a plurality of sections having textual content. For each section, the system is configured to parse the textual content with natural language processing using at least one pre-defined dictionary. A set of predefined rules are applied to the parsed textual content to generate at least one candidate. The at least one candidate provides at least one current procedural terminology (CPT) medical code based on the parsed textual content.
