Abstract: An optical integrated circuit (IC) structure includes: a substrate including a fiber slot formed in an upper surface of the substrate and extending from an edge of the substrate, and an undercut formed in the upper surface and extending from the fiber slot; a semiconductor layer disposed on the substrate; a dielectric structure disposed on the semiconductor layer; an interconnect structure disposed in the dielectric structure; a plurality of vents that extend through a coupling region of the dielectric structure and expose the undercut; a fiber cavity that extends through the coupling region of dielectric structure and exposes the fiber slot; and a barrier ring disposed in the dielectric structure, the barrier ring surrounding the interconnect structure and routed around the perimeter of the coupling region.

Abstract: A preamplifier has a pre-compensation circuit that optimizes the write current in a low current range of less than 30 mA. The pre-compensation circuit maintains the peak current with a high overshoot current amplitude for achieving an optimized areal density capability to equalize the erase widths for the bit lengths of the encoded data with bit lengths greater than three clock time periods with encoded data with a bit length of the two clock time period. Alternately, the pre-compensation circuit has an overshoot generator that determines the optimum amplitude of the overshoot current for the bit-lengths for the encoded data. An overshoot data synchronizer is connected to a read current preamplifier to receive a pseudorandom read data signal that is applied to the overshoot generator to enable the different overshoot current amplitude depending on the bit length of the encoded data. The pre-compensated data current is transferred to the write head.

Abstract: Alternative visual analytics for a particular business object are determined in response to user requests to change the dimensions of a previously generated visual analytic. By analyzing the request to change the dimensions, an alternative visual analytic pattern that includes suitably dimensioned visualizations is determined. The alternative visual analytic pattern includes a description of a particular visualization and defines how to generate a corresponding visual analytic. Based on the alternative visual analytic pattern, a modified report definition can be generated. The modified report definition, that includes analytical operations with dimensions corresponding to the request, can be executed on the business object to generate modified analytic data. A new modified visual analytic that comprises a visual representation of the modified analytic data is then generated based on the alternative visual analytic pattern.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating and distributing graphic representations of planograms used for the configuration, maintenance, and compliance confirmation in the display of merchandise and advertisements, are disclosed. Based on predefined merchandizing agreements, planograms are designed to define specific configurations of products and advertising collateral in specific locations. By referencing an identifier associated with a location, a corresponding planogram can be retrieved and used to generate a graphic representation of the planogram. The graphic representation of the planogram can be adjusted and superimposed onto a live or captured image of the location to indicate where objects should be placed or rearranged. Each object specified in the planogram can be visually represented as a picture superimposed in a position over an image or live view of the location captured by a client computing device by a user.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system obtains a first set of rules for assigning a first set of sales professionals to a first set of accounts, wherein the first set of rules comprises a representative load rule, a matching rule, and a balancing rule. Next, the system applies an optimization technique to the first set of rules and a first set of parameters associated with the first set of sales professionals and the first set of accounts to produce a first set of assignments of the first set of sales professionals to the first set of accounts. The system then outputs the first set of assignments for using in managing sales activity of the first set of sales professionals.

Abstract: A system and method for generating content based on network source features are provided. In example embodiments, a request for a landing page that shows a display of one or more electronic documents is received. The source of the landing page and the one or more electronic documents is analyzed to determine page view correlation data and selection correlation data. The page view correlation data and selection correlation data is used to generate rank data for the electronic documents. The electronic documents are sorted according to the rank data and a display of the electronic documents in sorted order is provided.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for generating and deploying a computer model with few inputs from a user. Techniques are also provided for creating a data mart that multiple computer models may leverage in order to decrease the time required to generate subsequent computer models.

A selection of a job title from a member of a social networking system is received. Additional members of the social networking system having the job title are identified. A career path for the member is identified based on an analysis of a profile corresponding to the member in comparison to profiles corresponding to the additional members. Information pertaining to the career path may be communicated for presentation to the member in a user interface.

Among other things, as the user points the mobile device's camera at one or more sections of the physical location, data relating to the captured image or images of such sections of the physical location are transmitted to and processed by a remote inventory assessment engine to determine a current inventory level of the product in the imaged section or sections.

The PWM generator circuit is operatively connected to the converter circuit and generates a PWM switch signal based on the raw control signal. The converter circuit transfers energy from the photovoltaic power source to the load based on the PWM switch signal.
