  • Publication number: 20050195821
Abstract: A method and apparatus dynamically control data traffic, such as multimedia streams, needing a guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) and normal data traffic, according to a variable communication environment. The method of dynamically controlling traffic in a wireless station includes reading header information of a packet received from an upper layer and determining a type of the packet, setting a priority according to the type of the packet, adjusting a size of a variable buffer by performing appropriate dynamic buffering according to the type of the packet, enqueuing the packet in a fixed buffer if the priority is high and enqueuing the packet in the variable buffer if the priority is low, and transmitting the packet enqueued in the fixed buffer to a destination station prior to the packet enqueued in the variable buffer.

  • Publication number: 20050089045
Abstract: A method of providing priority-based discriminated services in a wireless LAN environment. More particularly, providing discriminated services while maintaining compatibility with existing 802.11 MAC through a priority index map configured to enable discriminated services. A method of providing priority-based discriminated services in a wireless LAN environment consistent with the present invention includes determining priority ranks for terminals in the wireless LAN environment; and determining backoff times based on the determined priority ranks, and attempting to occupy a channel by sending frames according to the determined backoff times if predetermined channel occupation latency elapses after the transmission of a last frame is completed.

  • Publication number: 20050089002
Abstract: Provided is a wireless local area network (LAN) communication method in the Distributed Coordination Function mode. The method includes (a) setting a predetermined back-off according to the characteristic of data transmitted, and (b) transmitting data if a channel is available at the end of the back-off, and updating the back-off using residual back-off when a channel is used during the back-off. The data transmission throughput can be increased by reducing the back-off according to the characteristic of data to be transmitted. An increase in the data transmission throughput is particularly effective in transmitting real-time data.

  • Patent number: 6056461
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for feeding a recordable paper in an ink jet printer. The device according to the present invention is designed such that a recordable paper stacking plate is upward shifted by a reciprocal movement of a carriage to be positioned at a paper feeding position at an initial printing so that a recordable paper is in close contact with a feed roller. Thus, the recordable paper is picked up by a rotation of the feed roller and moved to a base frame. As a result, it is possible to save a time for feeding the recordable paper and printing data on the recordable paper. Further, there is advantage in that a time for picking up the recordable paper can be reduced by using a CR motor having a large torque.
