  • Patent number: 10884529
Abstract: Embodiments of an electronic device with an assembled multi-layered display screen and methods for a multi-layered screen assembly are disclosed herein. In one instance, the method may include disposing a frame for a display screen upon a base comprising a substantially flat surface and substantially corresponding to a shape of the display screen, assembling the display screen by stacking multiple components within the frame such that the assembled display screen faces the base, and delivering a bonding substance into the frame such that the bonding substance substantially fills the frame to the depth of the frame and around the stacked multiple components. The substance may be allowed to harden to a solid state thus bonding the assembly. The frame may have a depth substantially corresponding to a thickness of the assembled display screen. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 9710087
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for ambient light sensing for electronic displays. In one embodiment, a device may include a cover layer, a display, and a capacitive sensor stack positioned in between the cover layer and the display. The capacitive sensor stack may include a first sensor optically coupled to the cover layer, a light guide optically coupled to the first sensor, where the light guide is translucent and compressible, and a second sensor optically coupled to the display and to the light guide. The capacitive sensor stack may be configured to detect a force received at the cover film and to compress in response to the force.

  • Patent number: 9285905
Abstract: Various techniques are described for presenting haptic effects in a user device. The user device may include an outer shell and an inner device comprising one or more electronic components. The inner device may be suspended inside a cavity formed by the outer shell, and the inner device may be coupled to the outer shell by one or more haptic actuators situated between the inner device and the outer shell. The outer shell may substantially enclose the inner device, while leaving a touch sensor-enabled display accessible to a user. Based on touch inputs to the display, or other input events, control signals may be sent to the haptic actuator(s) to generate a relative motion between the inner device and the outer shell, the relative motion providing a haptic effect.

  • Patent number: 9051764
Abstract: An internal rotational locking device prevents separation of a front cover and a rear cover of a user device. The internal rotational locking device includes a rotational bracket coupled to the rear cover. The rotational bracket includes a locking tab to overhang a locking edge of the front cover. The internal rotational locking device further includes a compression spring to maintain a distance between the rotational bracket and the rear cover. The internal rotational locking device further includes a torsion spring to maintain a first rotational position of the rotational bracket, where the locking tab overhangs the locking edge in the first rotational position.
