  • Patent number: 11885769
Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has a flight-only mode with a motor only rotating propellers and not rotating on-board wheels to configure the UAV to fly away from a surface of a structure, and a crawling-only mode in which the UAV is configured to crawl on the surface due to the motor only rotating the wheels while not rotating the propellers. In the flight-only mode, a clutch disengages a motor from the wheels so that the motor only engages the propellers to fly to lift from the surface. In the crawling-only mode, the clutch disengages the motor from the propellers so that the motor only engages the wheels to move the UAV on the surface.

  • Publication number: 20220291676
Abstract: A robotic device may include a housing comprising the shape of a wheel, the housing having a magnetically conductive outer surface and an inner chamber. The robotic device may include a plurality of magnetic elements disposed around the inner chamber of the housing, the plurality of magnetic elements being coupled to a first end of a power drive. The robotic device may include a processor disposed in the inner chamber of the housing, the processor being coupled to a second end of a power drive. The processor may use the power drive to instructs at least one magnetic element out of the plurality of magnetic elements to magnetize. The at least one magnetic element may be magnetized without magnetizing any other magnetic element out of the plurality of magnetic elements.

  • Publication number: 20220120370
Abstract: A modular isolation robot includes a motor configured to drive at least a first wheel, wherein the first wheel is configured to contact an interior surface of a pipe. The robot further includes a first rubber expander configured to selectively expand from a first state to a second state, wherein a diameter of the rubber expander in the second state is equal to an inner diameter of the pipe, and at least a first interchangeable module, wherein the first interchangeable module is configured to house an electronic component. A system for performing maintenance operations within a pipeline includes a first modular isolation robot and a second modular isolation robot.
