  • Patent number: 11274617
Abstract: A system includes an engine adapted to output a torque, a parasitic load adapted to receive a portion of the torque from the engine, and a controller communicably coupled to the parasitic load. The controller is configured to determine an actual exhaust temperature value of an exhaust gas flow exiting the engine and a minimum fuel amount to be injected into the engine. The controller is configured to compare the actual exhaust temperature value with an exhaust temperature threshold value of the exhaust gas flow to determine a first difference between the actual exhaust temperature value and the exhaust temperature threshold value. The controller is configured to determine a target torque output of the engine based on the first difference and the minimum fuel amount. The controller is configured to cause the torque to be increased to attain the target torque output using the parasitic load.

  • Patent number: 11225920
Abstract: A power system is disclosed. The power system may include one or more memories and a controller. The controller may determine an exhaust temperature of an engine associated with a continuously variable transmission or a hybrid transmission. The controller may determine a target increase to the exhaust temperature based on the exhaust temperature failing to satisfy a threshold. The controller may determine, based on a lookup table, a target increase to a torque output of the engine based on the target increase to the exhaust temperature. The controller may cause a parasitic torque of the engine to be increased based on the target increase to the torque output.

  • Patent number: 10981570
Abstract: A machine is disclosed. The machine may include a continuously variable transmission, a location or movement module, and a controller. The controller may receive a first signal indicating a transmission output speed for the machine. The controller may receive, from the location or movement module, a second signal indicating location or movement information of the machine. The controller may determine a traction value based on the first signal and the second signal. The controller may determine a rimpull limit value based on the traction value. The controller may provide the rimpull limit value to the continuously variable transmission, wherein the continuously variable transmission is to determine a transmission output torque of the machine based on the rimpull limit value.

  • Patent number: 10059341
Abstract: A control system for a powertrain system includes an electronic control unit structured to receive ground speed data and load factor data. The electronic control unit determines an engine speed command to an engine and a torque command to a variable-torque transmission based upon an engine speed limit and a torque scale factor that can vary with ground speed and load factor. The commands produce an economy output of the powertrain to reduce fuel consumption.

  • Patent number: 10029694
Abstract: A control system for a powertrain in a machine includes a first sensor which generates a first signal indicative of a ground speed of the machine. The control system includes a second sensor which generates a second signal indicative of a load of an engine in the powertrain. The control system includes a third sensor which generates a third signal indicative of an operational state of the machine. The control system includes an input device which enables an operator to generate a request for a powertrain output. The control system further includes a controller in communication with the first sensor, the second sensor, the third sensor and the input device. The controller determines an engine speed command and a transmission output torque command to produce a powertrain output based at least on the first signal, the second signal and the third signal in response to the requested powertrain output.

  • Patent number: 9969402
Abstract: A transmission system is disclosed as having a transmission configured to receive torque output from a power source and to drive a traction device, and an input device. The transmission system may also have a control module configured to reference a signal from the input device with a map to determine a corresponding speed of the power source, and to determine a margin between an actual and a maximum available torque output of the power source at a current speed. The control module may also be configured to determine a delay time threshold based on the margin, to selectively adjust a speed of the power source mapped to the maximum displaced position of the operator input device based on the margin, and to selectively adjust fueling of the power source at a current displacement position of the operator input device and operation of the transmission based on the signal and the map.
