  • Publication number: 20230391434
Abstract: The invention encompasses fire-escape models of off-shore rigs with emphasis on a ‘Detachable Island Rig’ (DIR) with a bottom air capsule. The DIR unlocked from permanent underwater basement, is steered away upon a rig-fire, while also sinking and rising the unit controlling a fire. The basement's fire-escape for the crew with devised ‘water-seal’ also serves as fire-escape model for Jack-up rigs. Converging ‘spray-walks’ to a ‘spray-room’, ‘water-tracks’ with ‘track-drives’, or simpler ‘spray-drives’ are evacuation accessories. Other gas-fire protective measures include gas-chasing fans and pressured air-circuits, while canisters of soda lime absorb CO2 and CO. The wheeled ‘life-boats’ and ‘lift-boats’ are remotely let out boarded/un-boarded without collision injury. Strut-burlaps air-dropped from hovering cranes, drones or helicopters can smother a rig-fire. Countering devising for water-wind turbulences is herein actuated for floating rigs without legs.

  • Patent number: 10871055
Abstract: A Subsea Diversion of a pressured Gas Entrainment from the riser pipe, by a ‘Gas Entrainment Diversion Tubing’ (GDT) prevents rig-fire upon a well blow-out, wherein the giant bubbles emerging from water and rising to the atmospheric air are neither ‘pressured’ nor ‘explosive’, however precluded to enter the air-gap. A ‘Sea Level Gas Separator of Oil Well Effluent’ (SLGOE) unit working in conjunction instantly separates gas from the down-flowing oil-gas effluent, whereas the unit's voluminous top outlets for gas are subject to attenuating the pressured elements (volume and pressure being inversely related). Another model of SLGOE unit diverts pressured gaseous elements into oceanic waters, obviating an explosive gas-fire by its oxygen-free ‘milieu’. Upon a breach to the drilling conductor, an ‘oil-separator’ tank isolates oil from oceanic waters, while precluding oceanic waters entering the oil-containment, the latter, otherwise a brewing danger of mounting pressure culminating into a spewing geyser.

  • Patent number: 10807681
Abstract: The invention encompasses fire-escape models of off-shore rigs with emphasis on a ‘Detachable Island Rig’ (DIR), the latter instantly unlocked upon a rig-fire from a permanent ‘under-water basement’, its ‘water-sealed’ fire-escape entry serving as an exceptional model (‘Sumathi Paturu's ‘in-situ’ model’) for an ‘in-site’ fire-escape of a jack-up rig. An ‘off-site’ modular is an unlimited air-source for all ‘fire-escape’ units. A guarded ‘spray-room’ is a destination for ‘spray-walks’, or ‘spray-tracks’ with ‘track-drives’, or else simpler ‘spray-drives’—all being safe evacuation accessories workable with minimal cost and space. Wheeled ‘life-boats’ and ‘lift-boats’ protected against collision injury, are let out boarded/un-boarded by a remote control. Vital needs like safe evacuation, fresh air, and first-aids are devised as affirmed provisions.

  • Publication number: 20190234185
Abstract: A modular ‘Sea Level Gas Separator of Oil Well Effluent’ (SLGOE) unit is devised to prevent damage to the riser/conductor, as well as precluding the gas entrainment reaching the rig, upon a well blow-out. The effluent, after a blow-out, is let into ‘gas-separator’ tank of the unit, entering as a down-flow, whereby instantaneous separation of the gases is effectuated. Massively clustered top outlets let off the rising gases to a distant destination. An immensely pressured gas entrainment is attenuated by enormous receptive volume of the multiple upstream outlets of the tanks, the containing volume and pressure of a gas being inversely proportional. The gas entrainment is further precluded to entrain into the down-streaming oil of the tanks, reaching a different destination. When the drilling conductor is breached, an ‘oil separator’ tank separates the oil from admixed water, whereby the pollution of oceanic water is also precluded.

  • Publication number: 20180339751
Abstract: The invention encompasses fire-escape models of off-shore rigs with emphasis on a ‘Detachable Island Rig’ (DIR) instantly unlocked upon a rig-fire, from a permanent ‘under-water basement’, saving property and personnel. The devised ‘water-seal’ of its basement's ‘in-situ’ ‘fire-escape’ entry, not destroyed upon a rig-fire, serves as an exceptional model (named ‘Sumathi Paturu in-situ Model’, after its inventor) for an ‘in-site’ fire-escape with a similar ‘water-seal’ for jack-up rigs without a basement. An ‘off-site’ modular is an unlimited air-source for all ‘fire-escape’ units. A ‘spray-room’ with converging ‘spray-walks’, or ‘spray-tracks’ with ‘track-drives’ or a simpler means of ‘spray-drives’ are safe evacuation accessories workable even with minimal expendable cost and space.

  • Patent number: 9884669
Abstract: The invention describes a partially submerged ‘Detachable Island Rig’ (DIR) locked on a permanent ‘under-water basement’, to be instantly detached upon a rig-fire. The electrical wiring and metal tubing (with intervening rubber tubing) are cut and sealed, before the DIR disengages also from adjacent stationary rig. For stationing back onto the base, submerged despite changing tides, the buoyant forces of DIR are countered by a system of double pulleys within the basement, when also the DIR is aligned to be locked to the permanent base. The DIR has provisions for immediate functions of a conduction platform, living quarters, a basement entry, steering station, and uniquely designed life-boats and lift-boats. The ‘water-seal’ of the basement entry, not destroyed upon a rig-fire, serves as an ideal ‘fire-escape’ model, a safe refuge within the rig. A Continuation-in-part application extensively details water-sealed fire-escape devices of off-shore rigs, including a conventional jack-up rig.

  • Patent number: 9879517
Abstract: A modular ‘Subsea Level Gas Separator of Oil Well Effluent’ (SLGOE) about the well-head, precludes gas entrainment reaching the rig. The effluent, past the well-head BOP, through ab oil-diversion tube, enters into ‘gas-separator’ tanks, creating fountain-like up-flow (Sumathi Paturu Up-flow Model). The oil down-streaming into an ‘oil-passage tank’, is ‘styphoned’ to the partitioned collection system, past the diversion tube. Massively clustered top outlets of the tanks let off the ‘instantly’ rising gases. In another embodiment otherwise similarly configured, the oil flows down from the top to the bottom of the tank (Symathi Paturu Down-flow Model). In either model, a gas entrainment instantly reaching the top of the tank(s) is precluded to entrain into the down-streaming oil. Additionally, the immensely pressured gases are attenuated by enormous receptive volume of the tanks and the multiple upstream gas-outlets.

  • Publication number: 20170122091
Abstract: The devised modular of ‘Subsea Level Gas Separator of Oil Well Effluent (SLGOE) precludes giant gas entrainment entering the rig. The effluent, past the BOP, is diverted by gravity through a ‘diversion’ tube, into the bottom of 1-3 ‘gas separator’ tanks, creating fountain-like flow. The downstream, syphoned from an ‘oil passage tank’, joins the partitioned collection system past the ‘diversion’ tube. The large top outlets of ‘all’ tanks let off ‘instantly’ rising gases. In another embodiment of two ‘gas separator’ tanks, oil flows from the top of the first. Its bottom outlet directs it into the top of the second. From it, oil is siphoned to the collection system. The large top outlets of both tanks instantly let off gases. In either device, the gas ‘instantly’ separates from the effluent tossed into aerial milieu of the tanks, a simplest model conceivable, the laws of nature taken advantage of.

  • Publication number: 20170120990
Abstract: The invention describes a schematic of a ‘Detachable Island Rig’ (DIR) locked on an immovable base (providing stable working platform), to be instantly detached in the event of a rig-fire, the DIR having additional conduction platform, costly equipment, living quarters, a steering station, and uniquely designed life-boats and lift-boats. The electrical wiring and metal tubing (with intervening rubber tubing) are cut after clamping, before the DIR's dis-engagement. For stationing back onto the base structure devised for staying submerged in water, the DIR is pulled down by a system of double pulleys on the sides of the base structure, when also the DIR is in a position to be locked to the permanent base. The under-water basement houses electrical generators, a ‘power-source’ not to be destroyed by fire, and accessed at a level far above the ocean waters, through the top of a staircase-room erected from the basement.

  • Patent number: 9555052
Abstract: Intrauterine fetal growth restriction (IUGR) is an affliction of a disparaging spectrum, placental insufficiency being the major inciting pathology. The resultant fetal hypoglycemia is alleviated by intravenous hypertonic D-glucose 25-50% maternal supplements, by improving the Vmax of placental substrate transfer, as per Michaelis-Menten model. Fetal normoglycemia so restored in turn surprisingly improves fetal hypoxia, hypercapnia if any, lactic acidemia, acidosis, oliguria with/without oligohydromnios, hypertriglyceridemia, and the fetal nutrient, mineral and vitamin acquisition. The list being phenomenal can only convince an inquiring reader by a biochemical sojourn into the aquatic world of the fetus, herein described. Maternal carbohydrate predominant, essential amino acids/fatty acids rich IUGR-diet incorporating maximal amounts of vitamin and minerals are highly beneficial for attainable placental Vmax.

  • Patent number: 8389483
Abstract: Intrauterine Fetal Growth Restriction (IUGR) is a very important clinical problem for which no satisfactory treatment is available so far. The current invention of intravenous (IV) hypertonic glucose supplementation to the mother to improve the glucose transfer to the fetus at the intervillous space by improved facilitated diffusion can be a safe and easy way of treating this problem, as the improved fetal blood glucose can lead to fetal lipogenesis that can conserve the fetal O2 (oxygen) utilization and also relieve the associated metabolic derangements of fetal hypoxia, hypercapnia, and acidosis, apart from replenishing the oxidized coenzymes needed for the carbohydrate metabolism. The use of trans-amniotic fetal feeding studied by animal experiments can be difficult in humans, because of the danger of infection, which can be overcome by the use of implantable ports with a sterile patch technique.
