The emeraldine base composite comprises an insulating form of polyaniline or its derivatives adhered to an inorganic or organic material substrate such that the emeraldine base covers from about 1-100% surface of the material. Inter alia, the emeraldine base composite can be added to a coating as an anticorrosive pigment additive that inhibits corrosion and as a filler material that increases strength and barrier properties of coating.
