  • Patent number: 5254068
Abstract: Each tool, each chuck jaw, and each hand are provided with a characteristic data storing element. Characteristic data concerning tools, chuck jaws and hands are stored in each characteristic data element. The characteristic data concerning each tool, each chuck jaw and each hand are read out of the characteristic data storing element. Tools to be installed on a tool rest and chuck jaws to be installed on a spindle chuck are discriminated according to kinds of machinings. A predetermined hand is selected from a stocker on the basis of the read out characteristic data so as to install on a carrier robot. A workpiece is picked out of a pallet so as to carry to a spindle chuck by a carrier robot. A predetermined tool is selected from the stocker on the basis of the read out characteristic data so as to carry to the tool rest by a carrier robot. A predetermined chuck jaw is selected from the stocker on the basis of the read out characteristic data so as to carry to the spindle chuck by a carrier robot.

  • Patent number: 5107730
Abstract: A brake is provided for a workpiece spindle for spindle control. The generation of position shear of a workpiece spindle due to the unbalanced contact of the brake is prevented by changing the clamping power before and after the contact with the workpiece spindle. After the clamping of the workpiece spindle, the servo controlling state of the workpiece spindle motor is maintained and the overheat of the motor is prevented by limiting the torque of the workpiece spindle motor.

  • Patent number: 4679286
Abstract: There are provided workpiece rotatably holding means for rotatably holding a pallet at a position opposite to a spindle, a pallet changer provided with a main body rotatably holded and formed with a plurality of wings arranged in a windmill shape, and workpiece supporting means for loading the pallet on each one of the wings, and an intermediate station for transferring a workpiece between the workpiece rotatably holding means and the pallet changer. The workpiece to be machined is loaded on each wing of the pallet changer, transferred to the workpiece rotatably holding means through the intermediate station and subjected to the machining there. After being machined, the workpiece is transferred back to the pallet changer through the intermediate station.

  • Patent number: 4240194
Abstract: An automatic tooling machine includes a spindle carrier having a spindle for supporting a machining tool. The spindle carrier includes a tool drum mounting device for rotatably supporting a tool drum having plural machining tools thereon. A device is provided for transferring a selected machining tool between the tool drum supported on the tool drum mounting device and the spindle. A drum storage rack is fixedly positioned separate from the spindle carrier and extends in a longitudinal direction. The rack includes a plurality of drum support members for storing a plurality of tool drums. A carriage track is integral with the spindle carrier. A device is provided for selectively moving the spindle carrier to a position such that the carriage track is positioned adjacent and aligned with a selected of the drum support members. A carriage is provided for moving the tool drum of the selected drum support member along the carriage track between the tool drum mounting device and the selected drum support member.
